The Las Vegas Connection
« on: October 23, 2003, 06:38:33 AM »
What is the Las Vegas connection? Well it's a theory that is regularly put into practice by the producers of all the major TV serials. The theory states that if your program is becoming popular among the viewers or is loosing some of it's popularity, shoot an episode in Las Vegas and see those stats go through the roof. Almost every big budget serial shoots atleast one episode in Las Vegas. They start the episode with an ariel view of the Mega City with all it's lights, casinos and what have you. Most of the cast is present there even if there is no plot to wrap around the episode. Actually no plot is necessary. People will be so immersed in the sight and sounds of Vegas that they'll not even care about the plot. It's all about marketing baby. So next time you visit the Oasis of the West, you might get lucky and bump into Buffy or Angel.

BTVS is over (finally!), though I do remember the Angel ep shot in LV.  It was last season and an actress by the name of Brittany Isubashi (spelling is probably not correct) played one of the main innocents in the ep (it was a one ep thing). I say this only because I went to High School with her. She graduated the same year I did and performed better as Dolly in Hello Dolly! than Barbara Streisand, imo. Needless to say I was very excited to see her, and excited for her. She also had a one line part on an episode of Charmed, but that episode was not filmed in Las Vegas.

But yeah

Hey, she sounds like someone should keep in touch with, like me, who wants to get into that business too. So like... maybe look her up and tell her about me, eh MoD? Eh eh?

No, Gemm. "I'm saving my pull for me."

I haven't kept in touch with her, and we were never friends, just went to the same high school and were in the same grade. I did admire her talent, however, and it's exciting to see her have success.

I lived in Vegas for 2 years. Honestly, I don't see the appeal. That city sucks.

But Vegas is all sparkly.

My butt would be all sparkly if you covered it in glitter. It doesn't mean you'd want to see it in a lot of TV shows (I hope).

Okay, disgusting visual image I didn't need.

I'm still going to keep watching CSI.

Well, Charmed started with Shannon Doherty, who is not hot. Fortunately, the producer's realized she wasn't hot and replaced her character with another character who is played by a much hotter woman.

And I support people who watch Charmed for the same reason I support people who watch Xena. If no one watched the crappy fantasy shows on TV, then there would not be fantasy shows on TV, which means there will be no hope of quality fantasy shows reaching TV.

You did not just say "Shannon Doherty is not hot," 42. That is just wrong. I thought she was the best looking sister on that show. This new wench is just some floozey that makes it crappier. And MoD, I'll just look her up myself then. :P
