Star Destroyers
« on: August 24, 2004, 07:33:24 PM »
So I've been thinking:  Does that name mean: 1) the spaceships destroy the stars? or 2) they're like modern-day Destroyers (the ships that chase submarines) and they fly around in the stars?
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

I think they sound cool.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

it's a reference to really bad movies that end careers for famous actors

seriously, given that they can't actually destroy stars....

Well, you know how a starship is a ship that travels the stars?  A star destroyer is a destroyer (eg: a heavy military vessel) that travels the stars.

The thing is, Star Destroyers are actually the big boys of the star wars universe. Until the Mon Cal 90 came along. So why they are given the names of light escort vessels, other than cool name, is beyond me.

I vote in favour of something.

I vote in favor of both the above: the burning of those who insist on using the vestigal "u"

But if I had to vote twice...I think that for destruction ice is also great, and would suffice.

yes ice is nice, and will suffice, if you eat rice, or are named Brice, in a trice.
