Yeah they really did an amazing job cleaning up the prints. It's like it's brand spankin new again. Of course in some cases, this is true...

ok, because I have kids that I'd like to shoot at times, and because sometimes I feel like my entire family is out to get me, I got interrupted a lot and I didn't give it hte attention it deserved. I'm watching it again tonight, this time, NO INTERRUPTIONS on penalty of death. Popcorn and soda will be acquired ahead of time. Possibly ice cream as well.

anyway, I did see a couple things I didn't like. I don't like the new noise that Obi-wan makes when coming to Luke's rescue. That sucked.

Also, the "dodge" is crap. and the han-jabba scene doesn't look any better than it did in the original special edition, aside from the general clean up of everything.

Despite my whining, this will be the version I watch though, if only because it's so pretty now.

I have to agree with you on the clarity.  There is no comparison.  And your right.  The noise does suck.

So nice and so sharp and so worth the cash even though some on the changes suck

What noise does he make?
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

it's more of a whistly whine than the old roar. It's much less intimidating.

Come on.  Admit it SE.  It sounds like a squeaky, whistle-fart from an overly anal retentive tiger.  The thing it is coming from might be intimidating, but you just can't take it seriously!!

Maybe that was a little harsh, but it is the way I see it.

k, was trolling the member lists and hitting their web sites today. And Tek links to this comic's main page. Yes, it's yet another comic on the SW DVD

IMO, Jabba looks much better this time round. Still not as good as his Exalted Puppet-ness but at least now he doesn't look like he's on a cocaine weight loss plan.

In Sam's Club today they had the trilogy running on three different TVs, and I got to see the new Rancor scene sans blue lines. It made me want to cry with how beautiful it was. A scene like that can almost overcome my hatred of the ending...but we'll see.

One thing that I'm not sure bugs me or not. I watched the Jedi DVD for the first time recently, and there are no subtitles for Jabba's palace. Of course, I can follow it, but I'm not sure if that's because I know it or not. I KNOW that nuances like "This bounty hunter's my kind of scum" are lost, since 3PO tries for diplomacy.

They removed the subtitles? Can someone possibly explain the purpose behind that?
