Need more SCI FI!
« on: August 07, 2004, 07:54:08 PM »
So, I've watched all of DS9. It was brilliant, but now i need something else to watch. I have farscape seasons 1 - 3, and have been informed that season 4 was crap (they got told there was no season 5 only at the end of filming so they had to go back and redo it so it made sense without another season -  and failed basically). Babylon 5 has been recommended.

TNG is always a good bet. Voyager would be a distant second choice to TNG - I actively dislike several cast members on Voyager. Enterprise is just a watered down TNG with few interesting characters.

I'm going to ignore Firefly for the time being. Stargate SG:1, I watched the first episode on tape and it failed to make me care sufficiently to watch the other 2 episodes I was lent.

So what else is there to watch?

It's not SF, but if you haven't watched 24, I'd highly recommend it.

The 4400 is pretty cool. But it only has 6 episodes.

Stargate SG1 is also cool.

Was the episode of SG1 you watched taped from TV? Because if it was, you may want to find that episode on DVD, as it were to be the uncutted pilot episode. That may get you into it.

Have you seen Cowboy Bebop? It's the only TV series to battle DS9 for my affections, and I consider the two of them to be the best TV shows (sci-fi or not) ever made.

Or, you might want to find an episode or two from Season Two or three, so that you can watch one that doesn't suck really badly.

But only the first season.  The second season was so horribly bad it hurt to watch.

How about Mutant X?  I've never seen it, but I hear good things about it.

Mutant X has some annoying filler plot-lines. The acting isn't too bad when you realize how beautifully the actors pull off some terrible diologue. The characterization is poor at best. Mutant X is kind of the "Shake and Bake" of gourmet ScifFi.

If you looking for vintage SciFi, I'd recommend X-Files. Going further back, shows like Beauty and the Beast and Highlander were pretty cool.

I know these may not be SciFi, but what about the old live action shows like The Hulk, and Spider-Man, and Batman, etc?

Ugh!  Beauty & the Beast was pretty low on my list.  For somebody who claimed to hate violence, Vincent sure racked up an impressive body count.

Of the older shows, you can't go wrong with Twilight Zone.  If you are looking for superhero stuff, I heartily recommend the Tick in both animated and live action format.

And if you are looking for animation, Thundarr and Pirates of Dark Water are both very noteworthy.
