World of Warcraft movie

So the latest news on this is that Spielburg (yes, that Spielburg) will be directing it:

This is crazy, and largely unbelievable but for the fairly reliable sources involved. The one thing that makes this somewhat reasonable is that Spielburg has never made a fantasy epic (except Willow, I guess), and Warcraft is unquestionably the hottest property to grab right now if that's what you want to do. If one of the greatest living directors decides he wants to, in essence, steal back the adventure movie crown from Peter Jackson, this is the ideal way to do it.

That's beyond surprising.  I can't help but think there will be a "just kidding" newsline to follow.  It would certainly be an interesting adaptation, though I somehow doubt it would be what all the fans would expect.  Still, that would likely be a good thing.

from what I've read it seems like Blizzard knows what they're doing. As always (or mostly) Blizzard's reputation for taking their time preceeds them.

This could end up being like the Peter Jackson Halo mess where people reported him being the director when he ended up being a producer.

It was just a rumor.  No article in Variety, Joblo retracted--Gamespot got in touch with WOW people, who said no director has been named.  Surprise surprise.

At least no source is saying that Uwe Boll is directing it. That headline would cause pandemonium amongst the gamers awaiting the release.
