FMA Movie
« on: August 13, 2006, 11:37:26 PM »
The Full Metal Alchemist movie will be at the Wysong the 25th of this month and I'm debating going.  I know Oldie Locks is a FMA fan but I don't know if there's anyone else, since if you haven't seen the TV series the movie won't make much sense I probably wouldn't recommend it to those that aren't familiar with the series.  Then again this is during Worldcon so most Utah people will be out of town.

anyway here's the times:
Friday August 25th at 9:30 pm
Saturday August 26th at 2 pm and 9:30 pm

Trailer (which is really, really crappy)

Yeah. I was really disappointed that it's only showing while I'm going to be a WorldCon. It really is a pretty good movie.

So I take it you've downloaded a fansub.  I useally abstan from that since most fansubs translate things wrong because they don't have the original scripts and don't know what kanji are being used for uncommon words.

Heh. This fansub was absolutely terrible. Not only was the translation bad, but the subtitile encoding was seriously messed up. The subs stopped about 3/4 through the movie, started up a few minutes later showing dialogue from 10 minutes earlier, and spent 10 minutes rapidly displaying dialogue lines trying to catch up.

While I'd love to see it on the big screen with an official translation, it's not worth missing WorldCon over.

Along with the last few episodes.
I wonder how much the box set will be . . .

The box set's probably going to be cheaper than buying each individual DVD. I've been waiting a long time for it (while watching fan-subs).
If everyone is different, then no one is the same. With no definition of the normal, aren't we all insane?

FMA has at least what? 12 DVDs each selling for $25 you can deduce the price.

I'd recommend you go see it, Sprig. Like I said, it really is a good movie, particularly if you've seen the last few episodes of the anime.

Then you can write a review for all of us.  ;D

ETA: Just for the holy heck of it, here is a really fun AMV that uses scenes from the movie. It's set to a song "All Your Base Are Belong To Us." The scenes do include some movie spoilers.
