I couldn't find the original thread, so meh - either it didn't exist or it'll be linked by a mod closing this thread, so it's not my problem.

Ok, I'm obviously the only person on the internet who doesn't understand where the whole "Snakes on a Plane" joke came from.  Will someone please explain what the heck it all means?

Not sure if it's a comedy or not but Sam Jackson was quite adamant about the title being Snakes on a Plane according to IMDB.

Yeah, I read an interview with him. They changed the title after the first round of mockery on the Internet. Then Jackson got pissed, saying that the title was the only reason he signed on.

And he's right. I refuse to watch any trailers or anything. That title has me sold. I'm going to see that movie 100% on the fact that it's a Samuel Jackson movie called Snakes on a Plane.

Ahh!  They totally missed the boat on this one. Think about it, it's not close enough to home, or to our families and children. I think they may have had a better chance with:

"Runaway deadly poison arrow frogs on one of those tiny fake submarines at Disneyland, and the automaton captain who loved them."


Seriously, "Snakes on a plane" sounds like watching a "B" movie called "Some bugs in a jar".

I think I will pass.

We'll see if it turns out to be better than it's title. I will wait for someone's review on the matter.


(out of curiousity, why does this thread have a ridiculously high number of views?)
