No. Though Karen's uncle, who's a judge in Arizona, seems to think editing skills would make me a good probation officer for some reason. (???)

All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Hey don't knock what you do.  I may be a Software Engineer but I have no idea how to do anything outside of basic maintenance with my car.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

I agree with Spriggan, especially when it comes to newer model automobiles.  It takes a lot more training and skill to work on cars today than it did 30 years ago, and I couldn't fix one of those, either.  :)
I wanted to write something profound here, but I couldn't think of anything.

In case people don't know, Blizzard is currently hiring a copyeditor at their Irvine location.  They want 3 years editing experience, though.

If only that weren't an entry-level position with an entry-level salary.

Yeah, that thought crossed my mind when I posted it 'cuz I know you're still looking and Manga is your specialty. Sorry. :(

Then again, maybe they would find you too good to pass up and create a higher-paid position for ya? A longshot, I know. But I've heard of it happening.

Highly unlikely in NYC, where people in publishing are a dime a dozen. This is why publishing can get away with paying people so much less in such an expensive city.

Also, Shrain, what do you mean by:

I have a potential job offer that would pay less than I make now *and* it's in a more expensive city--Boston.

Um, you live in Boston (the Boston area, I mean). I'm confused. And if you mean that Boston is more expensive than NYC: actually, NYC ranks as more expensive, so that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I'll be in NYC next week interviewing at as many publishers as possible, myself, while I look for a new job. The freelancing is good, but it's tapering off, and it's time to start the long process of a real job hunt.
