The way that saltcitybooks ad is worded it doesn't sound to me like they really know what they're doing.
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

That's kind of what I was thinking. "About ready to submit his book to Marvel" sounds like "about ready to dive into the slush pile 100 miles long."

At Comic-Con, Marvel and DC both stopped having walk-up portfolio reviews. Instead, they have a big panel where everyone who wants a portfolio review shows up, and they tell them "There is a 99% chance we don't want you, but if you leave your portfolio here we'll look it over tonight and if we want to talk to you in person we'll post your name and a time on a big board. Check the board tomorrow."

And as far as I know, besides becoming famous by publishing at some other publisher, that is the only way to catch an editor's attention. I highly doubt they even look at unsolicited submissions.

My company is hiring a part-time Copy Editor. This isn't a career kind of thing, because it's only part time, but it could be ideal for a college student, a recent graduate, or a homemaker looking for extra income. It's an awesome place to work, so let me know if you're interested.

If I hadn't just moved, I'd be interested. Oh, well. I guess I'm not meant to scrap book.  ;)

What's the company's name, btw?

He works at Close To My Heart. You should apply anyway, just for fun.

I should apply as well, just for the fun of it. I think, were I to work there, not much would get done, since I found myself always having fun when Fell was around.
