IRON KINGDOMS
« on: July 26, 2004, 08:46:29 PM »
Just picked up my copy of the long-awaited Iron Kingdoms campaign book.  It was well worth the wait.  I think it will blow the doors off of Eberron.  Has anybody else seen it yet?

Remember back in the very early days of D20 there was a trilogy of modules called "Witchfire" that was set in a dark fantasy steampunkish type of world with industrial robots powered by magic, huge pistols, etc?  And then a year or so later they came out with the Monsternomicon (still the best danged monster book ever put out).  THEN they came out with the miniatures game War Machine which is currently one of the top selling games on the market.

Well, Iron Kingdoms is the long-awaited-for campaign book for that world.

Buy it.

Read it.

Be happy.

Actually, Gemm, it will be a pretty big seller.  Thanks to some rocking published adventures just after 3E was released and, what I consider, the best monster book in D&D, and the huge success of their mini game Warmachine (which I play and have posted about)...a lot of people have been waiting for this book a long time.

I was one of them, but I don't think the setting works well with d20.  Plus, Eberron stole my heart.

The IK Character Guide comes out soon.  I might pick it up and run IK with Savage Worlds someday.  Maybe not though.

I just got my grubby little hands on this book (thanks SE) and wow.  It's huge and looks good.  I'm going to try and plow through it for a review for next week, but it's almost 400 pages so I may not make it.

Just thought I'd comment that they're re-releaseing the witchfire trilliogy as one book and updated for 3.5,  also there are plans for a 3.5 monsternomicon sometime next year since it's out of print ( and has gone for as much as $60 on e-bay).

Every time I pass this on the shelf I almost buy it.

I'm a huge IK fan, an avid Warmachine player, and the book looks absolutely fantastic...

But I know I'll never run it.  I just got Eberron and I'm committed to running that (plus I love it too).

Sigh.
