I was kidding, but I suggest you still take it back, since it was defective.
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

My dream just got smashed to bits. I'm really, really bummed.

Dear Sarah,

Thank you for your interest in Tor Books.  Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you an internship at this time.  We wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Jozelle

Oh Shrain. I am so sorry. But, don't give up on your dreams, there is always some other publisher.

I'll just have to give it another shot in the future. Tor really is the place I want to work. The irony is that I'm pretty sure she turned me down because she thought I was overqualified... I mean, she brought up the subject three times. But who knows. Well, on with Plan B for the summer.

Tor really isn't the only publisher out there doing fantasy, though. And each publisher has its own style and corporate culture, but in the same vein every publisher has its weaknesses, too. So, if Tor is your "dream house," great. But don't limit yourself to one house. It'll limit your career opportunities. Finding a job is just the same as finding a publisher--query widely.

You're right, Stacer. I was being overly glum. I tend to pile all my eggs in one basket. But anyhow, I will just have to keep Tor in mind for the future. Plus, I'll be sure to apply to other SF publishers come graduation. Of course, this means I'll have to be patient. (sigh)

This sunburn is no fun at all. Thank heaven for aloe vera. I've been slathering myself in it since my trip to Lovells Island on Monday. (groan)

My ferret fractured my toe last night. Not fun.

That's one buff ferret. (Or one really wimpy toe.)

It was more of a cunning plan of deciet and comical mishap.

Pardon my hearty chuckling, but wow that's funny, though I am sure it was not "fun" to receive a feret-engineered foot fracture. hehe
