staff picks 3
« on: September 29, 2003, 02:33:28 PM »
I'm thinking we need to hit all the categories before we return to one. So let's look at books. Best non-fiction, either for value of the information or for ease of read, but preferably some sort of combination of the two. I'm thinking of ruling out scripture, but I don't know that I have a good reason for it.

I think it's a good idea to rule out scripture. Regardless of whether you believe it to be true or not, most bookstores have separate sections for non-fiction and religious books.

written FOR the templars? Or about them as a historical phenomenon?
In the first case, yes, it's out. In the latter, go  ahead.

because you said non-religious, non-fiction; implying that non fiction dealing with the subject of religion in a historical sense was out.

It doesn't imply that at all, at least, not in the original context of asking about scripture. But now that the question is cleared up, we can move on.

want to narrow it by subject even further? Best Art books, best books to use as game resources, best biography.

We'll get to that. I want to reserve crossing genres till later.

Incidentally, if there's something specific YOU'D like to see as a staff picks feature, let me know. [email protected]
Incidentally, this particular deadline is going to be October 10.
Limit your choices to three.
Limit your description to 55-ish words, max.

2 things of the staff picl articles:

1)the link code should include _blank after the url.  This opens up a new window to the amazon or other store page.  We don't want people to leave TWG when they click on our links.  I'm going to repost this request in "What I want for TWG" since I think all links on the site should be this way.

2) I think they should be in the other section not individual deparments.  This way if they keep going there will be a way for people to sort them all (by adding a sort link to the other page).
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!
