AT-AT
« on: April 10, 2005, 02:29:02 AM »
So it's comming out in November not in the Summer like I thought. Going to be $40-$50 though, but the following links has a SS of one and it looks to be worth some money.

http://swminisinfoworld.com/swminiATAT.html

Apperntly it's going to be limited edition, though not as rare as WK's LEs.  Here's one of WoTC's people talking about it

http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=394433

*sigh* Looks Like I'll be preordering mine in like September or something, I don't think I want to do that now so early on when things could change.

$40-50? If they remade the toy one that was like, a foot and a half tall that's what the price would be.

this one is 18" so it's based of the same old model I think, but I have no idea if its poseable or if parts are removeable.  If it's just one solid cast of plastic I would think $40-50 is a tad pricey.

Wow, that is a fine-looking AT-AT. $50 is a lot, but you have to remember that tabletop wargamers are pretty insane when it comes to miniatures--and you also have to remember that from any other company, it would be way more than $50. If Games Workshop did something that size it would be $100, unpainted, and unassembled.

They gonna bring out Vuzhan Vong out of mild interest?

Awesome Sprig. I played KOTOR and disliked it, I may have to try this KORTOR though. Sounds like it may be a hit above the rest, eh?

I can't tell you how excited I am about the huge figures and the gigantic AT-AT; I really get the sense that the designers are not only fans of Star Wars but fans of miniatures, and I've been waiting for figures like this since I was a wee lad. I'm a little bummed that the snowspeeder isn't going to show up for another two sets or so, but I'm very excited about what's coming in this one.

Wow, that AT-AT is something I wouldn't mind owning even though I don't collect/play minis. It's just nice.

Well this set comes out in about 4 or so weeks, I'm tempted just to buy a booster case since the retail price is $20 but in a case of 6 I can get them for $13 so it's about $80+ shipping.  The large sets are so expensive and while it's hard to convince myself that paying $80 for 6 boosters is something I should do I know I'll end up buying about that many anyway over the span of a month or so.

here's the rareity list for the huges

********
These three we know are rare:
Barc
AT-ST

Assuming this is a VR:
Obi won on Boga
Rancor

that would leave these as UC:
Bantha
Acklay
Reek
Viper
Naboo Speeder
HailFire
***************

So they're, unfortuantly, useing the old D&DM Huge page distrabution method so there's two VRs in a case and with 10-12 VRs (2 huge 8-10 others) there's not a gaurentee to get a Rancor in a case.

So I sent out my order for a case of Ultimate boosters today got them for about $15.33 each including shipping instead of $19+tax (so about $92 including shipping instead of $120+tax), hopefully I'll get them before the end of August.

And here are the Rancor Stats straight from Kidzworld:
Star Wars Miniatures: Rancor Figure Info
http://www.kidzworld.com/site/p5825.htm

Figure: Rancor
Faction: Fringe
Cost: 33
Hit Points: 100
Defense: 18
Attack: +8
Damage: 20
Set #: 26/60
Rarity: Very Rare
Special Abilities:
Savage - (This character must end its move next to an enemy if it can and does not benefit from commander effects)
Melee Attack - (Can only attack adjacent enemies)
Melee Reach 2 - (Enemies up to 2 squares away are considered adjacent for purposes of Melee Attack)
Regeneration 10 - (If this character doesn't move on its turn, remove 10 damage from it at the end of that turn)
Speed 8 - (Can move up to 8 squares and attack, or 16 squares without attacking)
Triple Attack - (On its turn, this character can make 2 extra attacks instead of moving)

Not quite as vicious as I had hoped but it's only 33 points so quite playable.  One of the problem with the D&DM huge figs were they all cost over 100 pts so they weren't able to be used in standard tournament games.
