So, I got the latest issue of Computer Gaming World, "Earth's Best PC Gaming Magazine," and it came with a huge Game/Demo DVD disc. First of all there are 5 free games on it. Those being, but not limited to, Dues Ex, Thief II, DAoC, Warlords Battlecry, and America's Army v1.9.

So I'm going to put Deus Ex on my computer and finally play it, and try out AA. Also I'm going to give DAoC a try, since its a free trial play and all. Which brings me to a third point. Anyone here still play it? If so, let me know of the pointers and such nots.

And as for the demos, there is LotR: Return of the King, LotR: War of the Ring, Empires: Dawn of the Modern World, Lords of Everquest, and XIII. I think I'm only going to try XIII, since I've been wanting to see what its all about.

And now for lastly, the last thing of all. There is a preview for DOOM 3 upon this disc. I have decided after seeing it, that I do not want to play the game. Not out of pure spite or hatred, but because it looks so damn scary. Zombies and upside down headed spiders, its all amazing to see and the such... but I'm not sure if I want to play it. I remember playing Quake 2 and being a bit of a "pansy" through it. Only because things were so dark. Just me and the darkness do not get along. But alas, I will someday play it, and when that day comes I will be crying my river of fright to you in a lake of my urine. Until then, lets forget about it.

The issue itself has just gotten my preliminary eye-run through, the reading usually gets done in my bed and on the priceless porcelain throne.

It's got Deus Ex and the new version of AA? Dang, I might have to get that.

For DAoC, play on Galahad if you want to do Albion, or Bedevere if you want to do Midgard. I don't think any of us play Hibernia. And make sure to check out http://www.camelotherald.com/index.shtml and http://camelot.allakhazam.com for class info and maps and whatnot.

Well the disk content certainly warrants a purchase but I already own the retail version of most of these games, so the only thing that would interest me is the demos(Except XIII- which I've already played). But I'll be getting it anyhow since I am a subscriber. The only classic title that I haven't managed to play yet is Betrayal at Krondor. The game just refuses to run past the installation.
PS:- Has anyone played robinhood: defender of the crown?

I do believe that Fell should get me a copy of XIII so that it may be reviewed for all intensive purposes. The demo is a multiplayer demo, it has two maps and you can play on the net and with bots. The maps are fun and gameplay are exceptional. I like the whole comic feel to it.

I played the AA game. All I got to do was fire a rifle (M16 I believe) at some targets. I guess you need to have some sort of profile to play on the internet.

Deus Ex was fun, at least what I got through (the training). So I'm going to keep on with that.

I have yet to install the multiple Lords demos, but I did get a chance to play LotR: RotK on my friends PS2 and it was sort of fun. Its sort of like Enter the Matrix, except funner.

I may try Thief II, not sure about that one. And I don't think I'm even going to bother thinking about installing Warlords Battlecry.

Deus Ex, I have to say, is the best game I've ever played.  Thief 2 is also a favourite. The fact that they are now available on a free disc is a very good deal in my mind, had I not already owned both games.

Are these full versions? or demos? Hardly seems worth demo-ing if they're that old, but free games? that's INSANE!

Yes, five complete free games. Thats why the disc is a DVD disc and not a plain old CD-R disc. I know.

Sprig used to play a tree-hugger Hib, so if nothing else I'm sure he's got a character that can give Gemm some money if he goes Hibernia.

Well Tage, I was onto the last point of logonedness when they wanted my credit card number. Now I have one and all, albiet with $13 left, but I'm not sure if I want to put it in there. What happens after my 7 day free trial is up? Do they start charging me? I'm just afraid of such a thing. Mayhaps I could borrow one of you guy's account and just a) see if it works, and b) if I'll like it. Any takers?

You only get 7 days free trial? Dang, it used to be a month. But yeah, when the trial period runs out they start charging you.

Fell's been passing around his account to all sorts of people, so maybe you can talk him into letting you use it.

If Gemm finds FPS games scary, he should try System Shock 2. That one was solidly on the side of creepy. Hehe.  My brother played it all the way through.  He used to be okay with spiders... he's not anymore.  Nope, not okay with spiders at all.

Yeah, I played a bit of System Shock 2. Just a very small portion of it. I stopped at one point and have never touched it again.
