Think there could be a new section under General called "News" so those of us who like to post links and stories about news going on in the world will have a nice little place to post things? I just can't find a place to put such things appropiately.

I don't see why we'd need a whole category for that. It's really just a specialized form of the "cool stuff.." thread.

"cool stuff" isn't stickied. nor are many of the others, like "quotes" or "cool lyrics" that get pulled up regularly in this fashion.

I was in favor of stickying a lot of those, but the group (correctly) pointed out to me that it would get too easy to have a whole page of stickied topics.  If it's of enough interest, it'll get pulled back to the top fairly often.  If you lose it, then you can just make a new topic for each news item.  Not a big deal.

Also, I fail to see how "Everything Else" doesn't cover news.
