Old Games

Anybody still play old games? 1995 and older? They p00n so much. I've been hooked on the original "Red Baron" and "Blood" lately.

New games suck because they are focused on graphics and not gameplay.

Yes, I think we have had discussions on how newer games are more about technology rather than actually gaming funnness.

I'd have to disagree with that. Old games are cool (I like an old game we used to have called Montezuma's Revenge), but new games aren't unilaterally bad just because they have good graphics: look at World of Warcraft, or Knights of the Old Republic, or Dawn of War. Though I do agree that games that focus on graphics to the exclusion of gameplay (such as Soldner) are abysmally bad.

I've still got my old 8-bit nintendo and sometimes pick up games for it.

my brother-in-law plays the classic Atari 2600. Man, nothing like 4 bit graphics.

Primarily because my computer is crap, I play a lot of Starcraft and have recently rediscovered Worms World Party. (I actually like the cruder graphics of the original Worms better, but who can pass up a game that has weapons like the Holy Handgrenade, the Super Sheep, and the Mad Cow Bomb? I want to try and find a copy of Lemmings now.

I love classic arcade/home games. I still play Berzerk all the time. My wife looked in the other day and said (surprised) Are you playing Space Invaders?! Yup!
Yar's Revenge & Warlords were my fave 2600 games.

In addition to all those Plug N Play joysticks there's a new Atari emulator console out with 40 games on it. But it has two controllers attached :)

Ah the good ol days when games had no end...

I played a game of Space Invaders on the 2600 once that went for 2 hours and technically hadn't ended. My mom changed the station to watch General Conference. *shakes fist*

Yars Revenge takes me back. Even my DAD liked that game. Though I could still stomp him. He thinks my pinball machines are his too, though I can whomp him good on that too. Come to think of it, he's put so much into repairing those tables that he probably does deserve at least half ownership.

My nintendo entertainment system gets more playtime than my gamecube and PSII combined.  What I miss, though, is the days of the arcade.  Man, those ruled.  Centipede, Pac-man...$.025 a play.  I still go immediately to the vintage section when I enter an arcade.

Yesterday, as I was travelling, we stopped in Ballina for breakfast. WHat did I find in that room, but a classic, tabletop arcade machine, complete with Ms. Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders and Galaga?

I had two games of Donkey Kong and set the machine's High Score. It wasn't even a good score, 10700, so I'm not sure if they reset the machine every day (Although Ms. Pac Man had a good score) or just not many people play it.

When I am at my parent's house I will sometimes pick up my dad's intelivision and dink around on that.  I especially like B-17 Bomber.

It's sad the old arcade days are gone. Now all we have ia a wonderful collection of driving, shooting and dancing games. And let's not forget the ticket redemption games. Ugh!
If you ever get to DisneyWorld, be sure to check out DisneyQuest. It's got a couple of VR games but also has an amazing classic arcade collection. And the games are included in your admission so you can play as long as you want :)

The best classic arcade game was probably Xenophobia. I could play that all day. And often did.

Im a big Spy Hunter fan (the old one) and I love Pac man.
The best Arcade game I ever played was Golden Axe.

Not that Gauntlet wasnt fun or Elevator action. Star Wars was a lot of fun too. And does anyone remember operation wolf?
