Cheating might be another problem.  From what I've seen, it's a recurring problem in CS, and if they can't stop it there...  Or who is to say that somebody doesn't set up some server, log on with a few friends, and just pads their numbers...

I think there will need to be some kind of reciprocal feedback system in place.  Or if nothing else, the ability to view the stats on your 'general' to decide if you want to follow his/her orders.

Big preview: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/battlefield2/preview_6120651.html

Battlefield 2 will feature built-in voice support and a headset packaged right in with the game. that's awesome. That in itself is enough to win my confidence, but some of the other features sound pretty cool as well. I'm still not sold on the commanders, but squad leaders sound awesome.

That sounds incredible.  I may have to spring for this one and waste bucketloads of time on it.

Just played the demo version.  Looks to be fun, and I'm excited to see how the Comander feature works...

The 'extras' are nice.  When I'm running through bushes, sometimes I flush out a flock of birds, and they go flapping up into the sky.  The game also seems a bit more realistic that those I've played in the past.  You get hit a few times and you are down and out...  More like America's Army rather than CS or something.

I've been playing this a LOT.

It's very good.

Sounds awesome. Also, it sounds like I need a new video card.

I purchased Battlefield 2 last night (on DVD, that was quite handy), and it is a very enjoyable game.  However, the true fun would come, I think, in getting several friends that would make up a squad, and really get to know each others' strenghth and weakness.  Work together, practice together, and then go kick some tail.

Did Renegade actually have a general?

I didn't think it did...

If any of you want to squad up, I play pretty regularly at the Rogue Saints ranked server IP 70.85.243.98 10211

It's my housemate's clan and while I'm not a member the gameplay there is good.  Lot of chatter, virtually everyone squads up.

I really wish the game had a friend list and favorite server tab.  I hear it's coming, but it should have been shipped.

Heh. I play on my clans server, and I got made a squad leader of all things. Real ultimate power is now mine!
