If I've been a jerk of late
« on: October 14, 2003, 04:00:46 PM »
If I've been a jerk of late
I apologize post hast,
my excuses do not cover
rude behavior to my brother.

If you knew my problems myriad
you just might forgive me, period.
Some money woes and stress from work,
have made me act more like a jerk.
And friends who know me would admit
that I can be a friendly git.

If I've wronged you in some awful way
this poem is my way to say
that Im sorry, and I hope your better
and I'll try not to be agressive
In posts and Emails, IM's too
I can be a freind to you.

If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

yeah, I don't really like them, but EUOL does, and any chance I have to make fun of spelling errors (meant in the kindest possible way, of course)....

I like them, but i have appaulingly wierd taste in music. Metal and Classical i like the most, not the most common combo.

actually, it's not that unusual. Classical and Metal listeners, according to one survey I saw, have a higher average IQ than other forms of music, and there are a lot of people that listen to both, such as me.

Have you ever checked users' folder listings on P2P programs like Napster and Kazaa, Entropy? There are a LOT of people that have Metallica right next to Mozart. I was a little surprised to see it myself, since I (apparently like everyone else) thought I was unusual for liking both metal and classical.

Hey! My car radio settings are all either metal or classical (well, with one oldies station). I wonder why that particular mix is so common in our demographic--are they both a form of rebellion?

Metallica and Led Zeppelin: Wrote about Tolkien stories
Movies that borrow from tolkien typically use classical like music (plus there are those great bits like Peer Gynt and Ride of the Valkyries). Yeah, there's a connection to gaming/fantasy/et al and these types of music.

I think also the better sorts of Metal tend to be better musicians with more technical precision and virtuosity than other forms of "pop" music. Which makes it actually more similar to classical than say, country or R&B.
My friend has a CD called "Heavy Classics" and it's a set of classical compositions that had direct influence on heavy metal tunes. It has a discussion of that (brief though it be) in the liner notes.

SO basically, I think that Metal and Classical are just more closely related than most people assume from the surface.

I like big, loud, music that has a focus on the actual instruments. I have little to no interest in most lyrics, regarding them as merely another part of the music. Although i do like a catchy main line.

I despise R&B. All R&B - don't give me that "you have only seen the poor mainstream" crap. It all sucks.

I'm a big metal fan, and I'm also a big New Age/instrumental fan.  My theory is thus: When I want music, I want it to go all out.  Either I want hard-core rocking thrash-metal, or I want something soothing and creative to help me while writing.  Everything in the middle is too bland.

There is very little I don't like. Gangsta Rap makes the list (still likes me some old school Fat Boys or Run DMC though). Diet music (stuff played on stations billed as "lite" or "easy"). also, country. I thought there was a country song I liked once. I even bought the CD. MAN was I wrong.

Other than that, I dig on new age, classical, opera, baroque, jazz (fusion, swing, small band, etc), metal, art rock, funk, some pop, 80's alternative, grunge, modern alternative, techno, indy, industrial, yeah.
