Help!!
« on: January 04, 2004, 01:56:08 AM »
I have a great need to reformat my hard drive, but my Windows 95 disk is history since I thought I had the Full Version of 98, unfortunately I only have the Upgrade.

If anyone has the Full 95 files (I have my own certificate and CD key) I would be VERY appreciative.  Brownies are involved, or a Mrs. Fields certificate for those of you who are out of state.

I could send you a copy of 95 that I have. Don't really have much need of it nowadays. If you want it just let me know.

actually, I think it may be that all you need is a CD Key for a full version of 98 to use with your upgrade disc. However, I can't find my list of keys, so I can't give you one. maybe someone here has a full copy of Win98 that they're not using and would pass you the key

I don't think the win98 has all of the needed files/.dlls etc. that it needs to be a full operating system.

If someone has a full version of win98 they wouldn't mind giving me for said brownies, that would be way cool too.

No SE. I have 98 SE, and it requires you to have some sort of product of theirs. So it needs to verify that by checking the CD. It doesn't actually need any files or anything. It's just checking to make sure you're upgrading from an older product.

And yes MoD, do send via the email.

does it do that BEFORE or after the cd key?
If it does it after, it's a response to the key you put in.

Well, it doesn't really matter. Since it still needs to check the CD. What with being Windows 98 Second Edition and all. But for all intensive purposes, lets say after. Then what Mr. Bigshot?

Intents and purposes. And.

I have nothing to say about Windows 98 or 95, just going about my mission of ridding the world of the misconception of this phrase.  :D

Yeah, but it isn't as glamourous and bedazzling as "all intensive purposes."

actually, no Gemm, you missed my point. if it doesn't ask for the Cd till after the key, probably it won't ask for the CD at all if you enter a key for the full version. get it?

Gemm, I sent the email to the canton dot edu address. Let me know if that's not the right one. Email me your address and I'll send the Mrs. Field's gift certificate as soon as I get the 95 disk.

Saint, no offense, but this way seems more likely to work. I'm willing to try it out both ways, but no one seems likely to volunteer a win98 full version CDkey.

Gemm, here's Mrs. Field's Store Locator. Looks like there are 24 locations in NY.

I got the package from Gemm on Monday. Tuesday I had to go out and buy a new keyboard (since I highly doubt they make the adapters for an old keyboard to fit into a PS2 slot). My husband was also kind enough to agree to the purchase of a new trackball. I was not too enthusiastic about the cordless version, but if I get a laptop (one day, in the very far future) it may prove useful, and untangliable.

And to top it all off, my husband was nice enough to keep software loading while I read in another room.

/me feels loved
