Stage fright
« on: April 18, 2004, 12:20:14 AM »
So I just spoke in stake conference tonight (the Saturday night adult session). Yikes. I've never really had stage fright for talking in sacrament, but today I kind of freaked out. Not *really* freaked out, but just kind of got nervous. Plus I have a cold, so I was hacking and everything, and it was just hard to think straight. Good thing I wrote the talk out, because normally I kind of do an outline and go from it, but my head was so stuffy it wouldn't have been a good idea tonight.

I'm so glad it's over!

Our stake is focusing on family history and temple work this year, and I'm the family history consultant for my ward. I spoke on the joys of doing family history research. I told about going to Scotland and read a little excerpt from my great-grandma's journal, and talked about how when we do our part, it's magnified and miracles happen. It went pretty well. And this is only 3 weeks after speaking on the same topic in sacrament, so I pretty much just used the same talk, altered to fit what they asked me to talk on. Oh, and I focused on knowing who our ancestors are as individuals, getting to know each person through the records we can find.

This is the 4th time I've had this calling. You think someone's trying to tell me something?  :D

I'm on my 3rd ward of being Relief Society chorister.  *shrug*   I won't complain though, 'cause I like it a LOT more than being a teacher.
