Unfortunately, it's so true that all of nod our heads and think "yes", and praise Martiniere in type.

One of the things I like is how epic his pictures feel. IMO, it would mesh well with EUOL's writing style. I hate it when the cover art is incongruous with the book.

I hate it when the cover art doesn't say anything...
a person sitting peacefully on the cover say's boring story. Especially when surrounded by a well ordered room.

Dynamism, thats what cover art needs, that special something that grabs the uncommited and makes them want to buy it.

Well martiniere apears to be a Robotech fan so you should probaly get him.  How do I come by this?

well he did a cover for Palyhedron magazine which you can see here:

http://www.bordersstores.com/features/feature.jsp?file=polyhedronart

Now, lets look of the version he put on his website:
http://www.martiniere.com/polyhedron.html

Notice the knees of the Main mecha there, on the one on his site there's the RDF/Macross symbol.  On the version that was acualy published those were removed and are just plain white (since that symbol is copyrighted).
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

I used to shop for artist at http://www.epilogue.net. It's still a good source for artist, but if you are looking for reputation that can be hard to find. Anyways, have fun.

Well, the decision has been made.  Tor's going to go with Martiniere for the cover.

Needless to say, I'm very pleased.  Of the artists they showed me, he was definitely my favorite.

The guy also likes to sell posters of his book titles.  If he does, or EUOL talks him into it, then we could sell autographed posters on BS.com.

Well, this is promising. Martiniere is definitely technically accomplished and isn't too bad on the concptual end. So here's hoping all comes out well.

I don't know, a little robotech in the underpainting may not be bad.
