Well, we have a bit of a problem at my school.

At out school, we have several computer rooms of computers, and they all used to have MSN Messenger installed on them.  They were wiped of it, due to abusive conversations going on during class.  However, until a day or so ago, students who brought their own computers in were able to access MSN (ie. Me and my friends).

That was fine.  But now some idiots, thanks to an ex-friend of mine spreading it around, are bringing in their computers and using MSN.  So its been blocked, port blocked.  We suspect that we can fairly easily get around it (if u know what you are doing, which the idiots don't) but if we fail, what are our other options.

Ie. what can you suggest for alternative chat clients, or free (private) forum setting-up

MSN doesn't install on the network either.
Nor does ICQ or Y!IM, or IRC
IRC is what I recommend. It isn't blocked as often as anythign else.

That's true.  Very handy thing, that.

Other option: get a cell phone with IM, and unlimited messages on your plan.

Ok, thanks guys.  And Fuzzy, one thing you need to understand:

We are poor teenaged geeks.  we haev little enough chance of getting *any* cellphone, let alone one with unlimited messages.  I have a cellphone, but not one with unlimited.  So, thanks a heap for the idea, but it costs *way* too much.

Oh, and ways for revenge upon the idiots are welcome too.

Now, by "revenge" are we talking large, bloody gashes with chalk outline on the floor or are we talking red face with the room smelling funny?

I used to know one of the admin passwords too.

Of course, it was only used for one thing, which I was doing, and that's why I got it, but still.

IE hacking your schools computer is prolly Criminal.

If i break both his arms, do you think the police would arrest me or commend me for preventing him from commiting an illegal act?

Just, y'know, curious.

Ok, TWG doesn't support Illegal activities like Computer Cracking. This conversation has gone pretty much out of bounds from pure hypothesis to actual details. I'm going to have to ask you to stop the conversation, or at leats move it away from the boards. Else I'll have to lock the thread. Sorry. (and I know I'm partially guilty too, I'm not a complete hypocrite).

You'd better delete the thread as well. No need to have illegal stuff in the archives.
