First I'd like to thank Jam for doing this for me. Secondly, I've been more akin to leaving my head up my arse and not getting anything productive done. No SE, I'm not going back to that night a few weeks ago, but still I'm just blatently lossing ground with this college stuff. It's like high school all over again. Which is to say at one point I just stopped caring about the work (to which I can attest getting a 9 on a test, and as well just shrugging off my one religion teacher).

So, overly, yes it may not work. But it'd be nice if it did. I want to get to the point at least where I'm her friend. I have slim enough friends back home as it is, I don't need to gain a friend and then just lose her because of something that seems a bit incredulous.

Y'know, you should probably take SE's advice over mine. I've never had a date, and he's married.

Ok, so I've been thinking. And while I've been trying that I've figured some stuff out.

So college, school, whatever, seems to have just become another bug on my back. Impressing me like the impression left on the snow after stepping on it with a brick. And I think I'd just like to take a bit of a break. Settle down somewhere and get a job. Make new friends, etc, etc, so forth.

And I figured, I don't really have anything in New York other than my immediate family. Plus we barely ever go to see our relatives down in PA because of my mothers illness.

In an effort to bring this to a conclusion, I think I may move out to Utah. If I can.

I, uh, would suggest against that.

The culture shock from New York to Utah would probably kill you.  And you'd be lonely with all the crazy Mormons running around.

Not only is Utah the worst job market in the nation right now, I second fuzzy's culture shock comment. Also, dropping out of school is just a BAD idea in general. Get your piece of paper, whatever it says, and get a good job after your four years of torture. Transfer if you need to, but don't stop going to school.

True dat. I finished school, probably for good, earlier this year. My propects for high wage employment are somewhat low.

also, speaking from experence, once you take an extened break/stop going to school, it's very hard to go back.  Not just getting back into a school, if you drop out, but also getting into the studying and going to school mindset.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

actually, don't be hasty. You just need marketable skills. My two richest friends (and one is QUITE wealthy) never went to college at all. However, you've got to have some mad job skillz to pull that off

However, you could always convert to Mormonism and transfer to BYU. Tuition is cheap and it's a VERY good education. Plus you get support groups like TLE, where most of us who have been in Utah met. As has been said, though, DO NOT move to Utah to look for a job, unless you've received personal revelation that this is what you are to do. You'll only end up working on outbound phone sales.

I don't really recommend dropping out. But transfering might help. What do you want to study?

Well, I think you should take the summer off, apply for a job with the national forest service and get out of New York for the Summer. This way you can save up some money while you decide on what to do. I told you last night that it took me a good 2-3 years to adjust to moving to Utah. Taking some time to travel isn't a bad thing, but just picking up and moving to a new place without checking it out first is usually not a good idea.
