Who wants to go to a last-minute convention?
« on: October 20, 2004, 08:28:23 PM »
Yeah so my husband is going to Denver for a convention this weekend, "Mile-High Con".  Car is rented and hotel is reserved but now no one else from Lucid raven can go.

So if any of you people in Utah would like to go to the convention for free and have a free hotel stay and keep my husband company while he drives, let one of us know tonight.

Leave sometime tomorrow, depending on when you need to go, and coming back late Sunday.

Author Guests of Honor:
Charles de Lint
Elizabeth Moon
Fred Saberhagen
Bob Eggleton

I'd never heard of Charles de Lint till the other day--brought home a free copy of Blue Girl. Haven't had time to read it, though.

Yes, I'm afraid my education is sadly lacking in many areas. What else has he written? Perhaps I just haven't associated it with him. Is he the one who wrote Tithe?

...and now I can't find Blue Girl on my shelf. Maybe it's still at work, but I thought I brought it home the other day.

It's tempting, but I'm a bit conned out at the moment.

Just found it, and looking at the list of his books, the only one I've ever heard of is Waifs and Strays, which I've seen but never picked up. But man, some of them sound right up my alley! I think I've missed out.

...And he's been a finalist for the World Fantasy Award 17 times. And has won it, too.

But you also have the advantage of not having a day job!

I would go, but I have to work thursday night. And I couldn't get anyone to cover for me because everyone I work with is incompetent.

I think they would order the hospital to rebuild him.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

There is at least one guy I work with who owes me hours.

I might be able to get him to cover for me. I'm still deciding if I want to take that drive to Denver again. It's been several years, but when I lived in Denver, I made the trek to Utah a few times every year.

I guess I can give a solid answer by midnight.

Spriggan works at the Cottontree in Provo, I work at the Quality Inn in American Fork. So no I can't get Spriggan to cover for me.

I'm thinking if I can get soemone to cover my shift, I'll go. My computer died today so I can't think what else I'll do for the weekend.

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you were part of the cottontree crowd.

Wait, so you work at the hotel that's like 100 yards from my work?
