So I'm back in the country, in my new place, back on DSL (after four years of dial up) and...
I'm Engaged!
Yup, I proposed to my then-girlfriend at the end of the annual slideshow at my final Eyeball (the optometry school's big formal dinner/dance). I added two slides to it. One read " And now a very special announcement for one audience member" and the next said "Kim, will you marry me?"
Amidst the gasps of the audience (about 400 folks) she turned to find me on one knee with the ring. She teared up and said a few words of disbelief but said yes. The whole crowd was cheering for us and came up around us clapping and forming a wall of people. Folks were standing on chairs to get a look. People coming up later said it was like a scene in a movie. I was just relieved because it went off without a hitch. Kim was ecstatic.
So the wedding is October 15th of next year, yeah!
And yes, this is the girl I met on eHarmony a year ago. Another member of my class saw how happy we were after a few months of dating and signed up for it too. He's going to propose in a few weeks. So, sceptical as I was about whatever system eHarmony uses, there seems to be something to it (based off a sample size of 8 or so...I won't bore you with all the other stories).
So, YEAH!
