I'm in an art history class right now. BC to 16th Century. I didn't like Egyptian art, it was really dull and uniteresting. Just flagrant stick figures if you ask me. The architechture however was somewhat cool.
Romans, they're alright. They just sort of borrowed from a lot of people (Mespotamians, Greeks, those sorts).
Everything else we haven't gotten to. And we're only going up to the Gothic I believe. Maybe Romanesque if you like the whole aspect of "the meaning over the look," then by all means take it.
Islamic stuff (almost forgot about them) are interesting. They used Arabic in a lot of their paintings, and put it in things like that. Like they would use it on a round disc, or in a painting. I'm not sure, but if I'm right, this may be the area (Ottoman and all) where some Russian stuff comes in. Which is just really cool. Since they like making the outside of the buildings outlandish and ornate. And onion shaped.
So whatever your pick, you probably won't go wrong. And if you think you won't like it after the 1st or 2nd day, couldn't you just make a course change?
As a side note, I may sound cocky, or some other variant. Me being a freshman and all, I think I know everything about some of these subjexts because I am taking a course on it. Hehehhe. I am the subtext.
