You act like its a bad thing.

Those coral reefs are dangerous - they could rip a hole in a ships hull. And as such, the US coast guard takes it upon itself to destroy coral reefs in order to maintain safety for ships. Its quite an important task.

My parents were hippies, and as such I have green views.  And thus I don't particularly like the idea of holes being ripped in reefs.  But I see your point nonetheless.

also remember that's he's a Brit and therefore probably knows very little about the U.S. Coast Guard. Now, Her Majesty's navy,.... maybe they do it. But the C.G. mostly work with spills and drug busts and illegal immigrants.

actually, the US Navy HAS admitted to scuttling several ships off the coast of Maryland... a place where the ships were never supposed to be at all, scuttled or otherwise
