It's become so popular one of our professors even showed it in class and would give extra credit if we could explain it.

well its an optical illusion obviously...
just a very elaborate one. As to the reason that they eyes seem to want to make it move I cant tell you, but the colors and patters make it... well appear to move.

Argh. Even sending my eyes way out of focus (i do that fairly regularly for no real reason) doesn't help any. Its just... argh!

You could train people for torture with this thing.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with how some of the post-chiasmal pathways process data, but it's a little much to get into here.

At least, I think I do. But you're obviously talking about something with eyes, but I'm pretty sure I can figure out what you're talking about there too.
