My wife came with me, she was very understanding,...
She had to be, for some reason the community I like to be a part in spends an inordinate amount of time trying to alienate other human beings. I dont know if it comes naturally, or if they have just had their dignity stripped away by years of oreos and obscurity in their parents basements... but it makes me a little uncomfortable standing next to that many stereotypes. Theres a difference between dressing up for a halloween party and going to see an author speak. And I wish they wouldnt act like the stalkers they sound like . Listening to their questions remined me of Shatner on SNL when the fans are asking scary personal questions and correcting him about his own life.. (That mare had a foal!?)
For the record, I think the people that post to this board are normal, stable human beings (mostly) mainly because neither Eric or I would dress up like Hobbits or Jedi, or some sort of motly jester clownlike thng that really doesnt fit in even with the stories of the author your going to see.
Oh and if your gonna stand in line, bathe first, and use deodorent.
Astrid "Why is it that all the things your interested in attract so many freaks?... And why does that woman have a witches hat on?"
Me "Derr.. I dont know, but lets get away from that guy wearing the "my father was a Klingon and my mother was a hobbit T-shirt."
