Brandon Sanderson / A Surprising Discovery
« on: January 04, 2008, 09:37:05 PM »
The Company I work for awards us safety points each month we dont have an accident or injury and we can use those points to order different items. I was browsing the website we can use to redeem our points and while looking through the books I was surprised to see they actually have Elantris and Mistborn 1&2 as one of the books we can order. :)

Rants and Stuff / Re: My Experience with Jury Duty
« on: January 04, 2008, 07:53:24 PM »
I was summoned to Jury duty one time and since I was unemployed at the time I had no problem going collect my chump change. We sat around all day the first day and had to go back a second day because apparently some of the cases on the docket hadn't finished pleading yet. About halfway through the second day we were all told we could leave because none of the cases were going to trial.

I'm curious to find out what that metal bead was the Elend swallowed.

I say its Plutonium or some equally radioactive metal. :D

I'm happy because Signed Hardcovers of Mistborn are being sold in Brandon's Store and I ordered mine all ready. I'll be even happier when I get it. :D

the Lord Ruler needs to burn his feruchemical metals to gain his powers,

Not the way I read it... He can use the Atium as a standard Feruchemical Metal storing his youth.  He can burn some of it as a way to kind of "Super-charge" different storage of Feruchemical Metal.

So as to say for example, in a regular piece if he spends 1 day being old he will have 1 more day of youth, but if he Burns a piece containing 1 day of youth then he may be able to get 1oo days of youth into another reserve. That is how I read it anyway.

I'd say he could also probably find a few bits of metals around the place.. remember most of the metals were fairly common and could be burned even if they werent in the best state. It would have taken much to scrape a bit of metal from different items around the pits, like the dinnerware etc. And just because Atium was the primary purpose for the mine doesnt mean there werent bits of other metals in the mine.

When me and my fiance (now ex) were talking about children we had decided on WoTesque names for them, or at least their middle names. Not directly characters from the books but characters we played in our WoT RPG, to bad we arent together anymore. Guess I'll just have to convince my next girlfriend to love WoT as much as I do.

Way back in the time of 2nd Edition I had come across a method to determine one's Stats by their ability to perform certain test. Then came 3rd Edition and they had a stat converter, which I used to convert my "character" into 3rd Edition, but alas it has been about 3 years since I have done any D&D and have no idea where that character sheet went so i have no idea what the stats are anymore.

People's comments are so good and thorough.. I wish i could give advice like that.. yet I get to caught up in the story. Maybe when the next version comes out I can be a bit more critical.

**shakes his head with a chuckle** you know... no.. nevermind.. I dont even want to contemplate the cross-breeding of those two series. **shudders**

Though, one wonders if the Fox Head Medallion would protect itself against Allomantic effects

I only wish that m'Lord does not see the need to release one of his ninja monkeys after me. For one, I am not worthy of such an execution. :)
