Movies and TV / Re: Random films you like

To be truely random:

1) Babett's Feast--I saw this movie for the first time in my high school French class because there is a spattering of French in it since Babett was originally a French chef. I'm not exactly sure why I like this movie so much. It probably has something to do with the fact that it is extremely "talky" no action sequences whatsoever, and it's foreign so liking it makes me feel educated. (Which I am by the way). But over all I love this movie because of the simple goodness and selflessness protrayed in the main characters.

2) My Father's Glory & My Mother's Castle (French)--Film version's of a French writer's early life. Again, the simple goodness of the characters, and the superb storytelling draws me to this movie.

3)Der Himmel Uber Berlin & Far Away, So Close (German)--Beautiful movies, though I'm still not sure I really understand them.

4) Lola Rennt (German)--You'd really have to see it to understand. The movie follows a teenage girl with outrageous red hair, trying to save her boyfriend, who has lost a large portion of money and must return it before the end of the day or get shot.

5) Casablanca (American)--Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman sigh Love this one. It's fun sometimes to watch the movies that made the cliches

Mustard--some good John Wayne to look for: The Angel and the Badman, though now that I think of it, it's probably more of a chick flick, still, worth watching. Also, Hatari!. The elephants, ostriches and Red Buttons are hilarious.

Would all the power factions have to be male?

I was just wondering. . . .   ::)

I'm Izzy Teichrieb, soon to be Whiting. I graduated from BYU with a Bachelor's in English from Brigham Young University. Which is to say that I work as an Admin in American Fork.

I enjoy playing Dynasty Warriors 3, and roleplaying in the Hero system. I also watch girly TV shows.

I'm listening to Shakira - Objection (Tango), but I've got "Fire Fight"/"Bang Bang" by Ramstein running through my head.

With my limited knowledge of German, some of their songs can be rather depressing, but still the beauty of it makes me want to find EUOL, and beg him to let me borrow some. Or maybe Brenna wouldn't mind. . .

I think I just don't watch very many movies. But I think you're probably right. It was just the worst one I could come up with.

Here, here, Tage.

10 points for the Saint! I actually did enjoy watching the movie, but I'm pretty sure it's the worst one I've watched on the screen. Drive-in actually.

Tage, of course it's me, who else? Of course it's been like 3 years and I finally figured out that Gareth was the Lt.

Feels sorry for EUOL

Okay, I'm over it.

Anyway, I guess it's okay when you look at it in that light, but I still think Super strength should be able to take out Incredible strength more quickly.

My favorite cross-over was Superman and Batman.

"Kick over the table."

Okay, so why do I have to be a Slave? First I was Slave, now I'm Trusted Slave. Brenna is Despot at Level 2. What did I do wrong, and is there anyway to undo it?

I have a one word answer to that question. Disney.

I'd complain more, but I am grateful that these Miazaki films are being released in the US.

And yes . . . that would be the English major mispelling planets.

I don't think I would notice if my planet fell out of orbit. Unless of course the moon started to get bigger like in Majora's Mask.

I just saw Spirited Away a week ago. It was amazing! It was just like watching a real fairy tale, though I got confused near the end, since it seemed to resolve too quickly, but then fairytales are like that sometimes I guess.

What is Laputa about? It's the same animator, right?

I tend to disbelieve that the Hulk could take Superman. Superman moves planets, the Hulk throws tanks around. I don't really see how that compares.

Thoughts, anyone?

Well, my hackles haven't been raised, but I still disagree with the Lt. (Congrats on being engaged btw!) I took my finace to X2 on Friday and we also saw the Hulk trailer. Now I will not disagree with anyone that says he looks a little fake, however, I don't believe we really have the technology yet to cost-effectively present him any better. I think the movie's version of the origin story for Hulk will justify the radioactive looking skin. I think St. Ehlers is right, the Hulk is a monster, and he's also huge! I think the way he moves is pretty realistic, even if it does cause some people to laugh.

I've never been a great fan of comics, but this is the first movie based on a comic that I have been truly excited to see. This is due partially to the fact that I really liked Xmen and Spiderman, but mostly it is due to Ang Lee. I am of the opinion that he doesn't touch anything that doesn't come out sparkling in the end. I the Hulk will come out as a very well-rounded, fun movie, and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I would like to take this moment to say . . . I've never seen Titanic. I've never seen Pearl Harbor. And I never will.

If the worst movie was just a bad movie that I've actually seen, I would have to say My Boyfriend's Back. Ten points if you even know what I'm talking about.

If the worst movie was one that I saw that dismally fell short of my expectations, it is Star Wars: Phantom Menace hands down. I was so excited for that movie, I watch the trailers over and over. And the movie was just . . . blah.
