Holy crap. Wow! I never stop saying "wow" with these sample chapters. Yeah, I will love this book.

Honestly, when Vin appeared... I was laughing like a giddy schoolboy it was so awesome.

I think this was my reaction the entire time I was reading it. So freaking awesome!!! Just fabulous... It's really probably a good thing that I was in a room by myself when I read it, because I was acting really silly.  ;D ;D ;D

I'm bummed he's skipping the middle of the country... I doubted he would come to Oklahoma, but not even Kansas or Texas?  :'(

Maybe next time...

Someone in this thread is on to something.
Or are you?

No, seriously, it should be obvious that the metal lake is something very important.

And it's not like Reen's obsidian.

Notice he very clearly does not say the Well is very important...that could mean the Well is different from the lake and we find the Lake is more important now that Ruin has been released.

And btw its a dark, dark day on TWG when we analyze not only the book but Ookla's posts as well...

Not necessarily a dark day, but it does mean we have reached a certain fanatic level of fandom...

If Brandon tries to pull an Ian Irvine (continued in the next quartet), or a Christopher Paolini (I realized my story is crappy, so I'm gonna have to make some huge modifications and add another book), I'd probably cry.

LOL, that cracked me up.  ;D

But who knows if it will actually happen, maybe it won't until near the end, so we still get some of this development and less of the Vin is on Maternity leave from her Mistborn awesomeness... sorry.

I hope Vin isn't on maternity leave either... I'm so looking forward to seeing Elend and Vin pull off a majorly awesome Mistborn fight together. I also really wanted to see Vin teaching Elend, but it looks like from chapter one that Brandon moved the story past that point already... bummer.

Wow, glad I'm not the only one who thought it was great! "If they run into Jar Jar Binks, I'm going to put my head through a wall."  ;D

Interesting... And this is just ignorance on my part, but I've never really understood how something gets "optioned" or a studio buys the rights, but then never makes a film. How is that a good investment?  *ponders*

Why does Pygmallion sound familiar?

My comment or my username?

I still don't like this version of Elend.  I miss him being his innocent idealistic philosophic self.  He just seems so cold.

:(

I agree with everyone else that Elend is fantastic. His character has had to evolve. And keep in mind that this chapter is not from Elend's point of view. I'm sure his idealistic self will come out through inner conflicts in his POV chapters. I can't wait until October. I was so happy when I read this that I almost cried.

AHHHHHHHH!!!!

I'm so excited... it's wonderful, and if the first chapter is this good, then I can hardly imagine how FANTASTIC the rest of it is going to be! ;D

I just got to read that sample chapter myself today. I was browsing a local bookstore, and there it was! I think I was making quite a fool of myself in the store (I did a little happy dance), but I really don't care. It was awesome and it's making me burst with anticipating for HoA.

I don't think Sazed would ever become a bad guy... after what happened in the last book, he might not care enough about anything to help the good guys, but I don't think he'd start helping the "bad guys." But I guess you never know. Gravy, I can't wait.  ;D

Soon there's months left to wait!  I freaked out so much when I read this, I was going crazy, I'm so excited now that I can hardly sit still!  I've been starved of mistborn for so long (new mistborn)  I can hardly wait!!!!!!!1

Right around 100 days to go... I've started marking them off on my calendar.

That opening line though: "Marsh struggled to kill himself." Woooooow.....

Has anyone watched this movie with the Rifftrax (former Mystery Science Theater guys) commentary? It makes it totally worth watching. Absolutely hilarious.
