I'm confused where this goes in the Happy Things thread.

I picked up another Sheri S. Tepper book a few weeks ago - "After Long Silence".  And despite the fact that the protagonist's annoying and painfully vapid wife was killed off by chapter 3, I'm having a hard time wanting to finish it. Must not be in the right mood. Instead I'm re-reading "Time Enough for Love", which probably means that the Tepper book has too much plot for my attention span right now.

Yes, well jobs do tend to be the problem. I mean maybe Archway Cookies wants a computer programmer, but somehow I doubt it.

Tempting, but for those prices, I could literally buy a mansion in the town I'm living in.  Seriously.  20 bedrooms, indoor olympic sized swimming pool, the works.  I saw it was for sale in the paper last month. $600,000

If you like Peeps and Midnighters, you'll LOVE the Uglies trilogy, which I think is the best of Scott Westerfeld's work. Science fiction in a not-too-distant future, in which everyone is ugly till they turn 16, and then they get the "pretty surgery" and get to go to New Pretty Town and be bubbly and happy.

Wow, I've never heard of that one. I'll have to keep a lookout for that one.

I vote for a name that won't curse her to a lifetime of people NEVER knowing how to spell it correctly.  Morgan is a perfectly fine name, as I had a book as a little girl about Morgan and her pet unicorn.

Hey, that's Luke Ski's song. I have that CD.  He's great in concert if you ever get to see him.

UK artist Banksy and DJ Dangermouse remix Paris Hilton's new album then sneak 500 copies into stores around the UK.

Head of Virgin says it's a pretty good stunt. I think this proves the Brits have a better sense of humor than we do.  Pardon, humour.

Thus hopefully ends the summer of our discontent. My husband got a call from a web design place in Mansfield (next town over) who were sent his resume and want him to work for them!

I must be a heartless witch, but for heaven's sake look at what the man DID for a living?  We expected him to die any other way?  I feel horrible for his wife and children, but for him I feel only annoyance for putting his life on the line on a daily basis when he HAD a wife and two small children.
