keep in mind that the nebula seems to be key. The closer everyone gets to it the crazier everyone but Starbuck becomes (she only gets crazier the farther from the nebula she gets). Anyone notice that both Starbuck and Rosyln seem to be getting jump headaches the further they get from the nebula too?

So maybe the four didn't have their switch flipped by anyone. Maybe they were programmed to activate when they got to a particular place or situation. In this case, the route to earth.

indeed I am now unfettered as it were.

I suspect they get as much done at work as everyone else. After all the maxim of Office Space is true, 95 percent of work isn't really work. Realistically I get very little work done on any given day of the week. That isn't to say I am not busy, Im insanely busy at work, but its almost always busy with minutia that other people think is necessary work or even worse Im busy with invented work that exists just to keep me busy.

Quote
Bob Slydell: You see, what we're trying to do is get a feeling for how people spend their time at work so if you would, would you walk us through a typical day, for you?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
Bob Slydell: Great.
Peter Gibbons: Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh - after that I sorta space out for an hour.
Bob Porter: Da-uh? Space out?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

Kronos Quartet at the grave of Richard Wagner. I'm on a classical kick tonight, and going to follow it up with some Béla Bartók.

Thats obviously the coolest office ever... and not just because of the foosball, and pool or guitar hero breaks... theres a flipping slide down to the canteen!!! and a fire pole!!! and private ski chalet and cable car style meeting rooms!!!! Frankly the place is just an insanely awesome work environment that looks like it was designed by an 8 year old (which is awesome... remember when you used to draw your own secret forts complete with pools and secret tunnels and slides.

Sigh.

I have to go back to a cube farm tomorrow.

What if it was Doc Cottle? That might mean that Baltars Cylon test wasn't bunk. How awesome might that be? Or even "awesomer" Tom Zarek (Richard Hatch... the original Apollo).

Yeah the last Cylon plotline will keep me guessing for a bit.

Also, I think Starbuck would kill Sam, I mean she just beat the heck out of him cause he wouldnt tell her where the Rosyln was, so I mean yeah... Hey honey Im a Cylon... "Bang"

Also what if the four werent really Cylons, but were just somehow manipulated by them. Heck maybe they experimented on Tigh and the others during their occupation on New Caprica... so that'd be a huge bait and switch.

Or maybe there are only Cylons, replaying the final colonial wars over and over again. I mean this did all happen before. Or at least thats a huge Galactica theme.

Movies and TV / BSG Season 4 -Spoilerific!
« on: April 06, 2008, 01:57:17 AM »
Well the season started off with a huge bang from the cliffhanger of last season. First of all we have 4 crewmembers who are actually Cylons positioned to strike at the heart of the fleet. Col. Tigh, Chief Tyrol, Anders and  Tory Foster. In addition Starbuck isn't dead and isn't a hallucination in Lee Adama's head. The Episode has a pretty awesome battle scene that brings us into the credits, and a much much lower number of surviving human count. now only 39,698.

Everyone thinks Kara Thrace (Starbuck) is a Cylon, when she's clearly just crazy and 2 months late to the party in a brand new sparkly viper. ... Cough red herring cough...  Plus she pulls a gun on Pres. Rosyln (which is Cylony) but there's no way she's the final model. Mostly because its just the first episode back from the long break. Something tells me that this season is going to get very dark as evidenced by Baltar when he accidentally starts a cult and gets some cult leader nookie. Oh and he gets his throat cut, but not enough to die. Also he miracles a sick boy back to life.

Starbuck is the star of this episode, and I have to say she's super whiny right now... "Ohhh I found Earth, why doesn't annnnnnyone believe me?" What I don't get is how she cant realise that it looks super weird when your ship says you've only been gone six hours and you've actually been gone 2 months... um after being blown up with verifiable witnesses and film footage of the event. Not to mention you end up several FTL jumps away from where you got blown up in the first place.

The best subplot going is the 4 cylons, who are all struggling with the knowledge that even though they are toasters... they're also human, or at least associate themselves as such. Keep in mind that they've been Cylons from the beginning and that makes some of their actions really really interesting. Take Anders... He's a former resistance leader who used to blow cylons up... or Tigh, I mean they pried out his freaking eye!  Foster was the one who found loyal humans for the hybrid baby!... Oh yeah and Chief has a kid with Cally... so he's got a hybrid too! Wow. Im really liking the season so far.

So, anyone play AT-43? The miniatures look awesome, but the 80 dollar pricetag on the starter box has me freaking out. I like the idea of minis you dont have to paint, lets me play em faster, but if you've played, can you give me an impression of how easy it is to grasp and how concise it is.

Everything needs a soundtrack. Housework, walking, the shower. I dont know how I lived without my ipod for so long.

Your right, great movie all around. But I didn't think it put that positive a spin on Jesse. He was downright scary in a lot of ways. His temper was really terrifying and it was easy to put yourself in Robert Fords place. Its funny because at first I really hated his character in the movie, but there was real character development. Jesse came off as a bully and a thug and the tension at the end was very palpable.

The denouement  also answered a lot of historical questions and showed how much more powerful a legend can be than the truth.
