Everything Else / You KNOW it's fall when...
« on: October 05, 2006, 10:16:11 AM »
You know it's fall when you go into a local grocery store/corner shop and find in the refrigerated section Apple Cider. Holy crap I love this time of year so freaking much!

I'm about to explode with appropiateness as I get over the rather hefty price of cider and down gallon after gallon of it for the next 6-9 months. That's right. Cider is so popular around here, it even last through winter, and possibly into spring.

So, add what you think makes fall fall.

Question, specifically for the big OtM fan, what's happened to these guys? Are they still making new stuff? Or have they gone under the radar and just living?

Apparently Apple's revamped their iPod line. Now the shuffle is smaller (and still a stupid concept), and the Nano has up to 24-hours of battery life and a brighter display. Plus they now have an 80 GB iPod.

Video Games / Game Ideas
« on: August 17, 2006, 02:11:20 PM »
Oh oh, I just had this interesting idea for a video game.

It's a remake of Oregon Trail. However, it's a Lord of the Rings edition.

Something everyone could play, even on an old desktop.

"Oh no! Pippin has come down with a fever. He slows your party down for 3 days."

I'm sure someone has other crazy game ideas. Anyone?

Writing Group / Poetry Group
« on: August 17, 2006, 02:04:55 PM »
Alright, I'm going to try this again and be less cynical about it.

I'd like to start some kind of poetry group where there is much discussion, collaborating, and writing of poetry among people around here. But not just here, friends of people are much obliged to join in on this.

Maybe twice a month during the week for a few hours would be good.

I talked to Fell, and he expressed some interest in the group (and poetry in general), and I am hoping to get some more people in on this.

So, now I ask, who is interested and when is best?

Everything Else / Google ad thingy: sneakers sneakers sneakers

I want to look at sneakers. Give me sneakers google. Sneakers sneakers sneakers. That's hard to say sneakers 3 times fast, and type it as well.

Sneakers google. Give me google-sneakers.

Video Games / The N-Gage still awesome?
« on: August 08, 2006, 09:49:46 AM »

I've read this article and I'm torn between laughing and actual astonishment. I've never actually handled a N-gage or played any of the games but it just seems like a GBA with online fuctionality.

It might be a bit more powerful but even still.

Everything Else / A question of eyes for Dr. P
« on: August 01, 2006, 05:16:49 PM »
Hey Dr. P I have some optrician questions for you.

What, on the prescription form, do OD and OS mean? As well, what are the Sphere, Cylinder, Axis, ADD, and Prism?

Thanks.

Video Games / An Xbox in the House
« on: August 01, 2006, 03:49:59 AM »
Alright, I am thinking I will be purchasing a 360 sometime this month (next paycheck). Is Dr. P the only person here who has one? Anything to say on the matter months after the fact that you have one?

Chromehounds is the singular reason I'm buying one. Plus there are a few other games that I'd like as well. I don't, however, like the fact that games cost $60 now. When did that crap happen?

Battlefield 2 looks cool, Ghost Recon, Call of Duty 2, LOTR Battle 2, and Oblivion.

Does anyone have any changed opinions on the 360? I know it's only a few months until the Wii and PS3 are due out, but looking over these recently I think the 360 is my next-gen console.

Also, I'd like to get a new PC so I can go back to gaming on that, but I think the cost might be a bit more efficient for all intents and purposes.

Video Games / Wii Pricing Finally Announced?
« on: July 22, 2006, 05:37:34 PM »
I've got my latest issue of Maxim here and it says that Nintendo's new console will be $250. It's just a headline and they don't really have any cold hard facts to back it up, but I want to see what the rest of you know.

Table-Top Games / Battle Corp

I seem to have found this game, http://genesia.battlecorp.com/ when I saw the banner on the forums. It seems interesting. Anyone else find any merit or something bad about this?

Everything Else / Query

I'm  looking for some incense. Specifically some place in SLC called "The Incense Sampler." They have two elephants with some rounded logo inbetween them.

Or, if someone has some nicely laid out website that has a plethora of incense to choose from I'll be more than happy to look at them.

Everything Else / Joining a Branch of the Military
« on: March 07, 2006, 11:14:10 AM »
Ok, so I've recently re-thought going into the navy. I almost did about 3 years ago, but I was younger and dumber then. I'm thinking now I'm a little better prepared for something like this and know better what I'd want to do in the Navy (instead of nuclear engineering). Anyone have any words of wisdom about this, or something?

Here's a thought. Is there any feasible manner for TWG to get a "copy" of Card's IGMS each month for us to read? In much the same way one person may buy a magazine and let others read it after they have finished it. Eh?

In due respect to Media Play's closing I picked up Past and Apocolypse. They both have their peaks and interests. It seems rather lacking in some ways though. But I guess that's what you get from a softcover throw-together.
