Im having flashbacks...
I just failed my linguistics class... but I still have my book... as soon as I unpack it I can look stuff up - if you want that is, cuz if youve been adequately answered and dont need more information, Id just as soon burn the book as find it...
Ill keep it at hand to be helpful though

You make a lot of good points in there.
There are a couple stores that I "frequent" (Im totally a walk-in) and the reason why I go to those two stores is because the people are friendly, helpful, and dont STARE and go OH GIRL WHO BUYS STUFF FOR HERSELF

I walked into a new store that opened up down the street from me and the 4 people in there (3 employees) just stared at me. When I walked up to one and asked if they had a gaming book I was looking for I just got a shrug and more staring. As I walked out I caught sight of the book I wanted, but kept walking and went to my regular store because I was just so freeked out by them and their inability to help me

I know this thread has been quiet for a while... but I couldnt think of where else to share my lil story...
I had a geek girl classic moment... I discovered a brand new comic/game store a few days ago, and I decided to pop in when I drove by. My friend Jen was with me. We got out of the car, walked towards the door, which was glass, and as I reached out to open the door I noticed the only people in the store were 5 boys gathered around a tabletop game...
...Then... They all turned and stared at me... panic... I nearly ran my friend over racing back to the car...
BUT I am resolved... I will go back sometime this week... I will face my fear...
I am ok going into the two stores I know... with the gamers I know... but this new crowd set me in a panic
But Janci I will hold you as a role model! ;D

yet again, something I can relate to... Actually the "let me do that" syndrome led in part to my last breakup...
In which I lost my ps2 which I had bought as a gift to us both... I miss that thing... I cant afford another one...
Gaming withdrawal... I had JUST realized that there were actually plots... that were fun!
my ps1 is outdated and dying... when is ps3 coming out so I can get ps2 cheap?!

Site News / Re: Introduce yourself - right on!
« on: April 19, 2006, 10:53:58 AM »
Ok so... Introductions! Im Caiti, college student and geek. I finally gave into my geekness about 4 years ago when I started playing RPGs and LARPing. I act, so larping came as a natural, and I go through withdrawal when I dont rp often enough! I love Diablo and tried to steal it from my x but did not succeed so Im going through withdrawal until I can get some money to get myself a copy. Im from Boston, Mass, but currently live in Bangor, Maine. I stumbled on this website, and I LOVE it! Especially Geek Girl... I totally relate! So... thats about all I can think of to introduce myself... My spelling is horrid, even though Im gonna be an english teacher... so sorry!
Oh, also, reciently I started doing a comic strip for fun, that I have put online. Hopefully soon it will be featured in my college's bi-weekly paper... Id appreciate feedback... http://www.freewebs.com/cwickedj/

Nice comparison. And good luck on the dating scene.

As for our RPG group, I somehow have never actually regularly roleplayed in a group with less than 50% girls. I keep hearing this "girl roleplayers are almost unheard of" rumor, and yet so far I haven't had any personal experience to back it up.

Up north where I am.... there are very few gamer girls... I usually game with about 30 people on and off (more or less depending on the time of the year... it is a college town)... there are maybe 5 girls (more or less) out of that...

I have to say I have reciently stumbled on this site, and instantly fell in LOVE with Geek Girl!
As a geek girl... I find everything in there completely relevant... especially the part of this recient article about once you date one geek guy all the rest know everything because they are ALL friends... haha!
Many times have I sat and read this while I was supposed to be writing a paper or something (curse the life of an english/theater major) and almost fallen out of my chair laughing!!
Keep up the fabulous work!!!!
