Everything Else / Re: Marriage-A Luxury Item
« on: March 05, 2007, 06:02:17 PM »
I remember reading a study that showed that for the first time in U.S. history, 51% of women were not married.  I found out that they were using ALL women who could be married as their basis, 16 and living at home, or 81 and widowed. It had nothing to do with were they married previously or were they socially too young., etc... just unmarried.

When my mom was mayor she wanted to find out how the city felt about a certain law that was going to be passed and she contacted a national polling agency to find out. They asked her what she wanted to poll to say? In essence they told her whatever you want popular vote to be, we will get it for you.

I have never trusted a poll since i found that out, even ones I would normally want to believe.

I toss this in there with that philosopy. I really don't care what newspapers have to say on popluar opinion. Let's face it, if newspapers didn't print something that most people found shocking, they wouldn't be a newspaper for long.

I am ridiculously impressed by your knowledge on the subject E.

But I am in the right place for that.

So anyways, the firm that I'm working for needed me to get licensed in Wyoming. It's not that any of the firms clients live in Wyoming (not many people do), but they own property in Wyoming that require me to do legal work in Wyoming.  This means that I had to take the Wyoming bar exam, which I did today. This was my third bar exam. I hate bar exams.  I hate taking weeks of my life studying for an exam that is nothing more then a hazing ritual for lawyers.

After I finished the exam, part of me was excited to be done, having realize that I was now allowed to live life again. Another part of me wanted to puke from having to go through the ordeal. Now I just hope that I passed so I don't have to go through this again (or maybe I'll switch jobs).

I felt the same way in the Series 7 and 66 exams.
You just gotta play their games.

Spriggan is amazing, but you already knew that.

I do have to pay my own Social Security and insurance though. Health Insurance is a nightmare for the self-employed.

I will never have a tax refund again.

And I am very happy about it because now I get to invest it and make the money on the interest, instead of the government doing that and giving it back after a year.

Everything Else / Re: A Warning Concerning Swords
« on: February 22, 2007, 09:32:56 PM »
I don't really think criminal charges are harsh. You have to do it, in my opinion. Same thing with the police at the Trolley Square shooting we had in Utah recently, the police went on trial.

You have to do that, for whatever reason, let's say it turned out the shooter had surrendered and the cop shot him anyway. You do things like that to make sure people can't feel they can get away with a crime by making it look like the other person was the bad guy.  You always must have an investigation, keeps people honest.

But, make sure it isn't harsh, for the reasons stated above.

The only reason I think this is in the media like it is, is because of the sword. The word chivalrous, and heroic were words to describe his actions. It is different and I think that is why it is in the news.
