You kids and your Pokemon.

For me it was playing Mastermind on my Mom's Magnavox Odyssey 2.  For those not familiar with the game it was your basic alien invaders game except the master alien would taunt you during the game.  Especially when you lost.

I've got to agree with fireflyz, but if you're still wanting to be in a writing group I'm the moderator for my group.  We submit through e-mail once a month and send critiques to each other the same way.  Including myself there's three active members and one part time member.  We've been doing this for about 7 months without any problems.  We try to keep submissions under 10K and we're all writing various flavors of sci-fi and fantasy, both adult and YA.

Writing Group / Re: Need ideas for what Magic can do

You could use magic to change a person's perceptions.  For example you could use it as an anti-depressant or to turn a squad of soldiers into berserkers.  It wouldn't physically change anything about the person or the world around them, just how they react to it.  You could easily turn people into puppets without them being aware of it.

So does this mean that it's a walk on role similar to Elantris?

@zas678

It is much easier to read between the lines when the OP has more than one line :-)

Unless everything we're saying is what's between the lines and the OP is just waiting for the conversation to end so they can bookend it.

floccinaucinihilipilificatious

"small or insignificant". Also the longest word in the English language.

Wow!  That's longer than a Polish surname!

Yeah, that's what I love about his books.  There's so many layers.  He puts in the most seemingly innocuous sentences that are actually foreshadowing.  It's brilliant!

Yes, there's less action as in battles and such but there's so much else going on that in my opinion they're just as fast paced as the more tropic fantasy books are.

I don't understand why people keep saying that TWoK is slow to start.  I was transfixed from page 1.  There were times that I'd have to stop and read the same paragraph four or five times because his prose was so beautiful.  I had to stop myself from tearing out the page and framing it.

Brandon's steady stream of updates and tweets are keeping me content for now.  I do have to say that I'm loving the behind the scenes peeks that they give.  It brings a whole new depth to the book.

Fuzzy Nation is Awesome!!!  I'm almost done reading Monster Hunter Vendetta and I'm loving it just as much as I did the first one.  Next up is Shades of Milk and Honey.

I really like CabbyHat and ulysses sword's theories.  I actually can't decide which I like better but they both leave me wondering about a couple things.  In CabbyHat's theory I'm wondering why the Heralds would make the Oathpact knowing that a thousand years of torture await them.  In ulysses sword's theory I'm wondering what other angle Odium has worked into the deal.  I mean, torturing Heralds and sending out Desolations is fun for him/her/it, but it doesn't feel like enough incentive.

That's assuming they notice the typo in the first place.
