Books / Re: review: Gone by Michael Grant
« on: August 16, 2008, 04:39:26 AM »
Hey, Nessa,
Thanks for getting this posted. :)

I actually spotted two problems. First, on the front page of the forum, the title of my review has a little punctuation glitch. "Adults" shouldn't have an apostrophe before the "s"--it should just be the plural form. whoops. Anyhow, can you fix that for me? (I know, I know, I'm obsessive.  :P)

Also, the link at the bottom for buying the book on Amazon uses the title of my review instead of the title of the book. ("Buy Adults Need Not Exist at Amazon.") That must b because I put the book and author in the subtitle. Is it possible to correct that? Thanks so much!

How's the review of Cry Wolf coming?

Hey, Nessa, I submitted a review that I've been meaning to finish for a while. Yay! Only thing is, I goofed with the title a little bit. I meant to entitle it like so: "Adults Need Not Exist: Michael Grant's Gone." But I accidentally wrote "apply" instead of "exist." :P Can you fix that for me whenever you post it? Thanks!!

Crap, I thought it was your turn next! Do you want to take my place? I've been helping my friend move out of her old place almost every night last week.  Plus, after I was turned down by Tor, I haven't really been thinking about my writing.

And then yesterday I had a date... No, don't get too excited. I went out w/ this guy from Match.com and the date was blaaaah. :P The guy thought it was great, unfortunately. (Here's one tip, guys: if a girl turns her head when you try to give her a "goodnight kiss" on the mouth, don't try to kiss her AGAIN--especially on a first date. Oh, and don't talk about all your ex-girlfriends!!) Anyway, now I have to explain that there won't be a second date.

So, the short answer is no, I don't have a submission. Very unfair to you all, I am sorry. I think, for the future, I will continue to read subs and attend the meetings, but not submit anything myself. Things are just too unstable w/ me lately and I don't want to mess the schedule up anymore. Sorry for disappointing you all.

Thanks, Ness. Yeah, work's been rough, especially because I didn't get the job at Tor.  :'(

Huge project dumped in our laps this week at work. Plus, my boss "asked" us to compile some extra data for all of our pending payment files. We tried to explain how it would take a LOT of time to get that data--time which would be better spent actually processing payments. Guess who'll be doing overtime for the next few weeks? :P

Hey, Miyabi, I work at a textbook publisher in the Permissions Dept. (Naturally, I don't want to say which company, since these boards are public.)

(sigh) Guess it's back to the job hunt for me!

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. I have a potential job offer that would pay less than I make now *and* it's in a more expensive city--Boston.

Check your PMs. :)

Thanks, Jena. I've been stressed at work trying to get back up to speed. (Not that we'll ever truly get caught up with everything, but such is publishing...)
Anyhow, since we didn't have group last week and I see no sub yet, I am wondering if we are cancelling again?

Inkthinker, these are some of my favorite Mistborn renderings ever. I don't mind the off-center pose of Vin. As someone said, she is pushing and pulling on metal and maybe she's about to do a backflip or something. I love the Inquisitors too. The roughness of the sketch lends even more menace to them. I'd love to see more of your inkthinking. ;)
