Is it supposed to be based on taht book?

I would think so, since they have the same name.

So, the first two chapters in what I hope will be a trilogy of books about a teenage boy who gets a summer job working for Heaven as a guardian angel. Crazy, I know, but just bear with me. As always, I invite you to destroy the text completely, only asking that you give me some explanations on just why it sucks.

I have to say that I enjoyed what I read, though I haven't read the previous chapters of the novel. I am, naturally, more than a little lost here. The summaries helped somewhat, but I'd love to get ahold of the other 5 chapters before this just to get a greater feel for the style and pacing of the novel.

I enjoyed the action of the second scene with Tav, and was left a little less excited about the conversation between Nerida and the others. This isn't anything to worry about on your end, more of the challenge of jumping into this in the 6th chapter, having built up no loyalty or understanding of the characters involved.

I enjoyed what I read, and if you could get me the other chapters I'd love to give you my overall impression.

This week I got a whole new idea about a civilization that develops magic when certain numbers in the calendar system meet up, a magical birthday if you will. Gonna be brainstorming further to make sure I'm not writing an homage to Piers Anthony's Xanth stuff, and trying to come up with a half decent idea that's not so cliche I puke in my mouth a little.

On the front of the "Part Time Angel" novel....nothing. I've been at a wall for about two weeks, not really caring to keep going. I think I need to start outlining my scenes more thoroughly before I write, just to make sure I've got a point A to B to keep me typing.

I'll have a couple of chapters to submit for next week...I guess that's the 2nd, since I didn't get word in by Saturday, right?

I'm going to put forth Scott Lynch as someone that's definitely worth reading. If you like caper novels at all, he's the way to go.

I can already hear the complaints about how the series isn't done, he's taking forever, etc. etc. I'm just saying that the two books that are out are good.

Personally, I'm a fan of the show. I've never understood what people are so concerned about when it comes to religious things being in a television show or movie. It seems every time anyone goes near angels or demons the flame wars begin. My brother in law told us not to take our kids to The Golden Compass because it would convince them not to believe in Jesus. I told him that if our kids could be desensitized to the message of christianity by a movie that appeared to have people riding polar bears, we were all in a world of hurt. Just my two cents.

Well, if it does the Tim Powers book any justice, it should be pretty cool. I recently read that and enjoyed it immensely.

The way I understand it is that's why it's moving--after it was announced that the series was canceled, the producers promised they would "finish" the story satisfactorily.  It's become much more interesting since then

Yup, it's the best it's ever been. Almost makes me wish they hadn't cancelled it. Oh well, cool concept that just couldn't make it over the hump. That's pretty much the story of almost every cancelled show, isn't it?

Well, my name is Bryce. I'm currently working nights putting my wife through her Masters at Utah State in Logan. I have a lot of time on my hands, and I've always had a dabbling curiosity in writing, so I think that now might be my time to really get something off the ground.

I don't remember the last anything I wrote that was longer than 10 pages typed, so I suppose I'm a noob when it comes to fiction writing. I've taken some creative writing classes, and enjoyed them, but I don't imagine I'll learn all that much until I jump in and just write something of novel length.

Currently, I'm working on a young adult fantasy about a part-time guardian angel that has no title, so I'm just calling it "Part-Time Angel," and I just got an idea for a second novel having to do with magic being linked to specific dates. I've got maybe 15 pages of Part Time Angel finished, and hopefully I'll get to share those with you soon. And that's all there is to know about me!  ;)...well, there's a lot more, but I ain't telling!
