Rants and Stuff / Re: Interview with me

I think you should try to get a job at Google. That place looks like a great place to work. I would try for it myself if I could convince my husband to move to California.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Hollywood Speculation
« on: May 31, 2008, 11:53:53 PM »
Well, considering Brandon said, "No, it probably isn't for the series you're thinking about," (emphasis added) I'm guessing it's one of his series and not a standalone. More than likely, it is one that has been published (I would guess), which leaves prominently Mistborn or Alcatraz. My first inclination was to guess Alcatraz. I think that it would be great on screen and if it did well, there are more books coming out that could also be made into a film. I think it would be hard to fit Mistborn into one movie, and I don't think it would reach as wide of an audience as Alcatraz would. But that's just speculation.

Everything Else / Re: Sad day in the church...
« on: January 28, 2008, 04:57:50 PM »
They interrupted what I was watching on TV to announce the news. At first I was annoyed (because for some reason in Utah they feel it worthy to interrupt shows just to announce things that can wait till the 10 o'clock news), but when I saw why, I started to bawl. I know that he is in a happier and place and I'm glad he is with his wife, but I will miss him and his humor. You could feel the love he had for everyone just radiating from him. Even though I'm sure each prophet is like that, he was the first one we've had since I was old enough to really understand, and he was the first one I was ever in the presence of. Because of that, he has touched me more than any previous President of our Church.

Brandon Sanderson / Brandon's Writing Inspiring Names of Future Children
« on: January 24, 2008, 09:13:58 PM »
A co-worker of mine has a friend who she lent Mistborn to. Now his firstborn son's name is going to be Kelsier. I thought that was amusing. I wonder if there will be others.

Movies and TV / Re: Heath Ledger's Last Role: The Joker
« on: January 23, 2008, 10:11:30 PM »
Yeah, I think this is really sad as well. I really liked a lot of Heath's movies including 10 Thing I Hate About You (one of my all time favorite teen movies) and A Knight's Tale. His smile is so contagious. I really hope this was an accident and he wasn't committing suicide. It makes it less sad than if he just didn't want to live anymore. I can't imagine only getting about 2 hours of sleep at night. I would be pretty desperate for sleep if I was in that situation. It's really sad about his daughter, too--to lose a parent would be hard. Even at my age, I would be so sad to lose a parent, even though I'm an adult living away from home.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: How did you find out about Brandon Sanderson?
« on: December 19, 2007, 11:57:27 PM »
This is why I think, for the most part, book stores are outdated.

I agree with Spriggan for the most part. If I know what I want, I usually just order it off of Amazon or the like. The only time I go to a bookstore is if I'm excited about a book and don't want to wait to read it; for example, when I got into the Dresden Files, I went out and bought the next one immediately because I couldn't wait to read. If I want to flip through books, I go to the library because I'm much more inclined to borrow books from the library rather than buy them anyway. I only buy books I can see reading over and over.

Movies and TV / Re: Journeyman

When did they say it? I didn't tape it, so I can't go back and check, but it sure wasn't obvious.

They said it after the episode was over. I can't remember if it was during the credits or what, but I changed the channel when it was over, so I know it was within the hour of the show. I remember thinking how weird it was that they were having two new episodes in one week and that it wasn't good news for the show.

Actually, they did mention at the end of the episode that the next episode would be on Wednesday. I am sad that it's the last--I really like the show, and I doubt they can really resolve the whole thing by then, and if they do it will probably seem rushed since when they were setting it all up, it was to last a lot longer. I'm sick of networks getting rid of shows I like.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Brandon To Write Wheel of Time Book 12
« on: December 10, 2007, 08:06:04 PM »
Wow . . . I mean, wow. I didn't even realize you were up as a possibility to write the last book. I just want to go around telling everyone I know . . . and many would probably look at me like I was crazy and ask, "What's Wheel of Time." Sad but true. That's awesome, Brandon.

I seem to have lost my cell phone. I haven't seen it since Monday night while we were having dinner at a restaurant. The restaurant doesn't have it. The good news is I don't think anyone used it in the 24 hours from when it went missing and when I suspended service on it, which may mean it's just misplaced and not "stolen" or that someone found it and plans on returning it, but I have no idea.

Books / Re: So, apparently Dumbledore is gay.
« on: October 25, 2007, 10:17:29 PM »
I agree with Charity and plan to do the same thing. I love the books. I'm going to ignore what Rowling said and still treat Dumbledore as not gay, and not mention it to my kids when we read. I REALLY hope they don't include anything about it in the movies. It may just ruin them for me. I really don't see how it helps the storyline.
