Brandon Sanderson / Shards of WoK ***Spoilers****
« on: May 22, 2011, 05:30:43 PM »
Hi, I've just been reading the subject of the Cosmere Discussion and there has been a lot of talk about Roshar.  Recently, there was talk about a shard called, Honor, I believe.  I don't ever remember hearing about this Honor.  Could someone clarify please.  The only ones I've heard of are The Almighty (whose shardholder name I cannot remember but I remember it being long and complicated and only the Ardents are supposed to know), Rayse (Odium) and Cultivation (who is in Shinovar.  So can someone please help me out with the clarifying the shard Honor?  Your help is greatly appreciated.

Cool, so Phaz you with me?  Anyway I agree with you andygal for my birthday this year my father and I went on a road trip from Colorado to Eagle Mountain, Utah just to see Brandon Sanderson.  It was well worth it though, that's why we should try to get him to come here.  So that we don't have to make 16 hour round trip journeys to go see him.

Okay, so if you live in Colorado you know that we haven't seen Brandon in a while.  Well, I had an idea that if I can find all of his friends in Denver-area/ Coloardo and we e-mail him about coming to see us maybe he can ask Tor if he can come visit Denver on the Alloy of Law or  A Memory of Light tour.  So calling all Colorado fans, lets band togethor!

I have a question I read the first couple of chapters of Liar of Partinel a few months back and was wondering if the protagonist's mentor who taught him Lightweaving was Hoid or not.  Does anyone know?  Has it been confirmed or not?

I agree with you on that last note.  Sadeas deserves to die but he definitely needs to be there to be an antagonist for Dalinar.

My top five are:

1) Odium- okay I know he can't be killed except for maybe by Hoid or Sazed ( other shardholders) but he is really evil.
2) King Taravangian- the most evil human on Roshar!!!
3)The Ghostbloods
4)Szeth- not really bad but he still probably needs to be chopped down in order to get to Taravangian.
5) Amaran

After all the internal struggle I picked the Mistborn Trilogy.  Not saying that I don't absolutely love Way of Kings and Elantris it's just Mistborn was the first Brandon Sanderson book I had read and it was unique and straight forward.  Versus Way of Kings I still have some questions that need to be answered.

Brandon Sanderson / Cosmere Timeline * Slight Spoilers for all books*
« on: October 13, 2010, 03:57:49 AM »
Hey everyone, I just finished the Way of Kings and have read all of the books in the Cosmere so far.  I was wondering does anyone know the timeline of the Cosmere in which all these books take place?  For example if:  ******SPOILERS*********** WoK took place before Elantris could Odium be the cause of the Reod*******End of SPOILERS**********  Just stuff like that I just want to know when in the total time of the books written so far have all the stories taken place.  I know this is a big question for all the super-fans out there ( I'm not part of that group yet but trying hard to gain enough knowledge).  Thanks all!

I don't know.  I'm so torn, I love them all.  Elantris is amazing, but I'm leaning towards the Mistborn trilogy because the first two books are my favorite  Sanderson book but the third one is my least favorite one.  Also Way of Kings is sooo good ( I just finished it about 10 minutes ago).  Any insight to my dilemma?  I am absolutely willing for people to pull me in many diffrent directions.

P.S-  Jkincaid I totally agree with you I thought Shallan was really annoying and just wanted to skip her viewpoint until half way through.  Then for the last one hundred pages I just couldn't get enough of her, though I think that's mainly because Jasnah is insanely awesome!

I was thinking more YA but you never know.  Either way I know it's going to be a great story.

I think it probably has to do with Ruin's power.  Kind of like when Vin discovered it's power it was in a liquid form.

I'm guessing the time gap will probably be a little less than in between the Mistborn books ( because there was a year between each).  I think this because there still needs to be time for the events to set in but I'm pretty sure the whole Stormlight Archive series wont take place over the course of 20-30 years.
