So these are the Japanese covers for WoA. . . .

They changed the name to Mistspirit and I really dislike the art.

Yeah, if you don't like Japanese... anything, this isn't going to sit well.  Sometimes I think they like staring at cartoon girly boys more than they like looking at their actual women.

As for the title, "born" is probably one of the top 10 most difficult words for Japanese people to say and to read in Katakana.  Why they have to use the transliterated English "Mistspirtsuto" blah instead of something equivalent in Japanese that gives the same effect is another question.  They probably just think English sounding things are cool.

But for the first one it was ミストボーン So it would have already been recognized that way.

Sorry I don't understand what the "If you don't like Japanese  . . . anything," meant.

Music, art, animation, cinema... he probably meant culture in general.  From what I understand, disliking Japanese culture is the opposite of your personality, Ne?

It took me a few seconds of staring, and then re-reading that it was WoA to go, " OH... that's Zane...Eww."

Curse you and your readings! >:(  .... ;)

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Elantris discussion?
« on: April 26, 2010, 03:23:15 AM »
Well, go ahead and ask.  The people around here are Brandon superfans, and would definitely do their best to answer as best they can.  The reason I guess there are so many Mistborn discussions and fewer Elantris ones is that between Mistborn, Elantris, and Warbreaker, we know the most about how Mistborn fits into the cosmology.  If you read the Shards of Adolnasium post (which I realize is HUGE) you'll probably find answers about how Elantris fits into it all, or at least more questions.  Or crazy speculation.  But, yeah, ask away!

Hmm... perhaps worship is the wrong word.  I CAN see him asking people to look to him for guidance and direction, and being sad and upset when they choose to ignore him.  "I understand more than you do! Why don't you listen to me!?"

Also from a storytelling viewpoint, saying that Hemalurgy can only steal allomantic and feruchemical powers means that Ruin and Preservation must always come as a pair. Presumably, the shattering launched all the shards all over the place and those two wound up together, but could they not have if things had turned out just a little differently?  When Sazed says they belong together, does he mean as parts of Adolnasium, or as a pair?

I've often pondered what kind of God Sazed would be.  I just can't see him asking people to worship him.  I also have this awesome idea of Marsh and Ten Soon acting as his agents on Scadriel, while he keeps track of the bigger picture.  As for minor tragedies, he's wise enough to know that people need minor tragedies to grow.

I think it means the season flopped, and your system went into reruns.

One word: Batman.

Hey, I just reread the prologue, and I noticed flame(fire?)spren.  Looks like emotions aren't the only things that attract these guys.  Hmm...  They seem to be everywhere.  I am now going to attach great significance to these little guys in my mind, and keep it there until the book tells me otherwise, and maybe even if it does tell me otherwise.  What are these things?

Spren?

Awe, don't worry about them.

That's what Brandon WANTS you to think.
