You just used "epic" as a noun.
"Magic is what makes fantasy fantastic," someone says, "you can't apply rules to them or else it loses wonder!" I respond, "Sure, but if you want to write them you will certainly want to know how they work." Writing is all about execution, and I find applying some basic laws of physics to magic systems make them more understandable and realistic. Here, I'm going to outline my basic method for developing a magic system.

So these are the Japanese covers for WoA. . . .
They changed the name to Mistspirit and I really dislike the art.
Yeah, if you don't like Japanese... anything, this isn't going to sit well. Sometimes I think they like staring at cartoon girly boys more than they like looking at their actual women.
As for the title, "born" is probably one of the top 10 most difficult words for Japanese people to say and to read in Katakana. Why they have to use the transliterated English "Mistspirtsuto" blah instead of something equivalent in Japanese that gives the same effect is another question. They probably just think English sounding things are cool.
But for the first one it was ミストボーン So it would have already been recognized that way.
Sorry I don't understand what the "If you don't like Japanese . . . anything," meant.
Hey, I just reread the prologue, and I noticed flame(fire?)spren. Looks like emotions aren't the only things that attract these guys. Hmm... They seem to be everywhere. I am now going to attach great significance to these little guys in my mind, and keep it there until the book tells me otherwise, and maybe even if it does tell me otherwise. What are these things?
Spren?
Awe, don't worry about them.
