Brandon Sanderson / The Ten Focus Characters of the 10 SA Books
« on: October 02, 2010, 01:54:04 AM »
There's gonna be a focus character for each of the ten books, like how Kaladin was the focus character for a Way of Kings (showing his backstory).  Brandon said that we've already met each of the viewpoint characters, and that he's not sure if the next book is going to be a Dalinar book or a Shallan book.  He also said that by the end of the epilogue, we've met all of the characters, which means that Talenel is going to be one of them.  He also mentioned in some interview that he'll probably have two Kaladin books, and that Szeth will get a book.  This means that the following viewpoints are confirmed:

Kaladin x2
Dalinar
Shallan
Szeth
Talenel

That leaves four more.  My guesses would be the following:

Adolin
Jasnah

After that, I'm not so sure.  Here are the ones that I think would be possible:

Renarin
Elhokar
Wit/Hoid
Axies the Collector
Sadeas
Naeaverirenaifenvae whatever the crap the Queen's name is

Renarin and Elhokar are probably the most likely of the semi-likely, which would mean the following viewpoints:

Kaladin x2
Dalinar
Shallan
Szeth
Talenel
Adolin
Jasnah
Renarin
Elhokar

What do you guys think?  Which characters are you most looking forward to / least looking forward to?

Brandon Sanderson / Hopes/Predictions/Wild Theories for Book 2
« on: September 10, 2010, 11:44:20 PM »
I hope that Elhokar matures.  Brandon likes playing with fantasy stereotypes, and one fantasy stereotype is the irredeemably spoiled young king.  Dalinar cares enough about helping Elhokar grow up that it better happen.  Dalinar is kind of the man.

I hope to learn more about Renarin (I believe that's his name--Dalinar's son).  There's obviously some importance to him, what with his interactions with Wit and such.  Definitely a character to come into his own.

I hope for the really tall Parshendi Shardbearer to become more of a force in the narrative, interacting more with Dalinar.  Interesting, mysterious figure.

I hope that the story is set in another interesting city/location, a lot like how the Wheel of Time took the characters from one major city to another.  They talked quite a bit about that one city naturally built around the windblade rock formations that rose in its center -- something's gonna happen there, soon.

Szeth the Surgebinder is off to go kill Dalinar, whose new head bodyguard is Kaladin...the Surgebinder.  Mistborn Reloaded, anyone?

Obviously, Shallan's older brother isn't dead.  Or if he isn't dead, he left a long, mysterious trail of clues/information.

Jasnah was quite defensive of King Taragavarariawhateverhisface.  For being one of the smartest people in Roshar, you'd think she would know something about him.  Is Jasnah evil, and involved with King Traraggvvaiean?

Also, some reveals as to the origins of the Shattered Plains, a closer look at the heart of the place, some reveals as to the gemhearts true purposes.

What are y'all's hopes/predictions?

Brandon Sanderson / Hoid's Hidden

Is Hoid looking for a Shard of Adolnasium in a Where's Waldo book?

Notice a short, balding man doing some conspicuous Shard-searching.  Cannot be anyone other than Hoid.

Is one of the Shards hidden within Where's Waldo?  Or can it be that the ever-elusive Waldo himself is a Shard?

Also of interest: the twitter account of Hoid's diary.

Brandon Sanderson / Way of Kings concept art
« on: December 12, 2009, 01:47:28 AM »
If anybody happens to go to the Sugarhouse signing tomorrow, it would be superkewl if they took pictures of Isaac's concept art.  (As long as that's not, like, against the rules.)  We, the oceanically inclined, would appreciate it and think it to be awesome.

Possible?
