I just finished Memories of Ice. It was such a great read.  Just awesome. Now I'm on to Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs.

My husband read Consider Phlebas by Iain Banks and really, really liked it.

I would also highly recommend Sun of Suns by Karl Schroeder. And anything else by Schroeder, actually.

Did anyone like the dance? Anyone?  I thought it was ghastly, but it wasn't enough to ruin the movie for me. The only thing that really bugged me about the end was the whole "Alice becoming a businesswoman" which seemed wrong for the time period.

I'm reading The Graveyard Book. I was a bit worried going in, because it won a Newberry and my faith in the Newberry committee is nonexistent, but I'm actually quite liking it.

I quite liked Singularity Sky and its sequel Iron Sunrise. I would recommend them as long as you don't mind the f-word.

I just finished Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut. It was very different. I liked it.

It boggles my mind how not young adult Scott Lynch is.  Sigh.

I've read all the Discworld books, and I definitely recommend them, but I wouldn't recommend reading a lot of them in a row.   They need a little space between them.

If you want to make a big commitment, try Hunter's Oath by Michelle West. It has one sequel but then leads right into the Sun Sword Series which has 6 long books which then leads into the House War series which has two books so far.

For another big time commitment, there's the Malazon books by Steven Erikson and Ian Esslemont.  Glen Cook has several series, all of them good.  Martha Well's has the Fall of Ile-Rien series---you should start with the prequel, Death of the Necromancer.

I use goodreads because that's what my friends are on and I like seeing what they are reading. I don't do any of the bookgroups, though.

I was sick a lot last year, so I read a lot. I'm a stay-at-home mom so when I don't feel well but I still need to take care of my kids, I end up reading a lot.

Last year I read 108 books and started, but gave up on, 20 more.
