All we need is official Brandon go ahead, someone artist to make up some proper designs (even if it is just making the words look pretty) and some one who wants to create a cafepress account.

I'm sure we could come up with a list of more inspired phrases too...

Brandon Sanderson / Warbreaker Merchandise
« on: June 29, 2009, 11:03:20 AM »
I don't know if Brandon, Inc. was planning on releasing any Warbreaker merchandise (and if he isn't, then hopefully a look at this thread will change his mind  ;D) but I was thinking regardless, what would make some good Warbreaker gear?

They only think that I can think of at the moment is putting witty Warbreaker inspired phrases on T-shirts and other clothing. A few things that come to mind:

Nice hue
Can I have your Breathe?
I brake for Returned only
Lightsong is my homeboy
My other T-Shirt is Awakened
I *heart* Blushweaver
Beware of dead squirrels
I Destroy Evil
Got Breathe?

The Returneds Deific Breath is only stong enough to get them to the 5th Awakening, not the 8th.

I'm going to guess that Vasher can become a Drab for a short period of time, but would have to get his Breaths back before he needs to feast, otherwise he would die.

#EDIT#

I was thinking on this, maybe a Returned can only store his Big Breath and still live, as long as he gets it back and gets another Breath by the end of the week. If the Returned gives the Big one away, then that is it for them... just a working theory

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Warbreaker Reviews
« on: June 23, 2009, 11:00:09 AM »
I just finished reading Warbreaker for the first time (in my nicely signed hardback copy  ;D) and I'm completely stunned. It is such a fantastic book that brought some great concepts to life, wove them into a gripping plot, and brought to life a slew of characters that are REAL people.

This was one of those rare books that I can't manage to put down, once I finished a chapter and thought that I should be doing something else, I would read the first line of the next chapter and be hooked all over again. Brandon truly is a master of his craft, there wasn't any point in this book that I didn't feel like I could just reach out and touch Siri, or Vivenna, or Lightsong, or whoever.

I think Brandon might be onto something about BioChromata. I'm going to try to convince my co-workers and friends to give up their Breathes to me!

Nathan Fillion for Lightsong gets my vote, I'd also vote for Juliette Lamboley for Siri (didn't know who she was, but those pictures that Natalie posted the link to are perfect)

I think Robbie Coltrane would do well as Llarimar. David Wenham would be a great Denth with maybe Sean Astin playing Tonk Fah.

Monica Bellucci would be a fantastic Blushweaver IMO.

I can't think of anyone to play Susebron, but I think Peter Stormare is a fit for his high priest.

Brandon Sanderson / Warbreaker Error?
« on: June 22, 2009, 05:27:50 AM »
I just got my copy of hardback on Saturday (June 20th) and this is my first reading of Warbreaker, so maybe I'm the one in error BUT I did notice this:

Quote
Lightsong stared at the painting.
Red upon red, shades so subtle that the painter must have been of the First Heightening at least.
- Chapter 26, page 267 (page 268 on the PDF on Brandons site)

Should this be Third Heightening? From what I'm aware (and from what the nifty Ars Arcanum at the back of the book says), the First Heightening grants a person Aura Recognition while it is the Third Heightening that grants a person Perfect Color Recognition.

Is this just Lightsong not knowing what Heightening grants a person which powers, or is it a copy error?

Here are a few things that Brandon said to the questions that I asked (in no particular order), all WoT related.

Asmodean's killer will be revealed explicitedly, not with a bunch of subtle clues. He said that he couldn't say if it was in The Gathering Storm (due to his contract) though.

I also asked about if there was going to be a glimpse of Seanchan, and he said there isn't going to be a solid POV on the Seanchan continent. So I guess Tuon won't have to go back to get crowned Emperess. When I asked how that would affect the prophecy where Rand is supposed to kneel (or bow, I can't remember) before the Crystal Throne, Brandon said that the Emperess would be considered the Crystal Throne just like the Amyrlin Seat is considered to be both the person and the actually seat.

Slayers tie to the Tower of Ghenjei and how he play into Matt, Thom and Noal (I said Jain Farstrider but Brandon didn't take the bait) rescueing Moiraine was talked about. He didn't say much more than that Slayer is a complex character to write.

That is all I'm recalling at the moment...

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Questions to pester Brandon with?
« on: June 20, 2009, 03:24:08 AM »
Most prominent question I can think of is: Can Brandon come back to IF next week so I can talk to him about Warbreaker since this will be my first read through? That and 'what will he be doing at the end of July when I get Mistborn read? I'd like to discuss it with him too!

Andrew, I'll be there tomorrow too and while I was contemplating asking some pesky questions, I didn't know if that would hold up the line or not. I guess if there isn't a huge mob of people then I could hang around and ask more questions until B&N security carted me off or Brandon told me to get lost.

The only time I ever got a book signed before was by Robert Jordan himself (Winter's Heart) and all I could think to say was, 'Uh, hi.'

Hello, my name is Necronos... would you believe that isn't my real name? Really? Ok, I'm really named Jeremy and I live in Idaho Falls, Idaho. I'm not really from Idaho but rather Ireland. Idaho is just my base of operations as a Superhero.

Unlike some people here, I didn't go to BYU. I can, however, spell it correctly 9 out of 10 times. I'm proud of that.

I don't own a lasergun but I do own a '85 Dodge PowerRam 250. I once ate 3 packets of Domino's pepper packages. I'm one of those guys who hits people with foam covered sticks (a member of Belegarth Medieval Combat Society). I never went to college or univerity but I do have 3 legitimately earned degrees (message me if you really care to know more). I have 3 kids that I hope will become 3 adults that live on their own. I'm married to a woman (I'm a man). I own all the seasons of Seinfeld and I recently upgraded my Cable account so I could watch the 2nd season of Trueblood. I've only played Warhammer 40k once but I own and have read over 40 40k novels (and a bunch of 30k novels). I can see a cherry tree from where I'm sitting.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: How did you find out about Brandon Sanderson?
« on: June 19, 2009, 10:56:27 PM »
I friend of mine from Provo, who is a huge Wheel of Time fan, told me about him so I took the internet to learn more. I found his site (and this one through that) and have been following along on his blog for a few weeks now. I haven't bought any of his books yet since I blew my book budget way before finding him. I'm going to break a few personal finance rules of mine and spring for Warbreaker tomorrow when Brandon comes to Idaho Falls for a book signing.
