So the people who make Smallville have decided that superman is boring. So who is more exciting than Superman...not Batman and not Wonder Woman...Aquaman, duh.

We'll see where this goes.

Okay this article doesn't specifically address any one medium, but I figured that the literature people would have the most to say about it.

Role-Playing Games / WotC Design & Development
« on: September 23, 2005, 06:22:48 PM »
So I'm really starting to like the Design and Development articles on wizards website.

example: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dd/20050923a

I like hearing what the developers were thinking and what they are looking for in creating new suppliments. It has at least given me ideas about how to build TWG adventures.

Thoughts?

42: Fortunately, I monitor how often she gets out to adventure
42: I can't have her going up levels too quickly
buddy: no...you defnitely don't want an epic-level ferret on your hands
42: well, fortunately she cross-classed into barbarian which cost her some ranks, but now she frenzies
buddy: i don't know if that's fortunate or not
42: I'm such a geek
42: I'm now probably goign to spend my evening filling out a character sheet for my pet ferret
buddy: heh heh...don't worry...you're not alone in your geekiness...be proud of your geekiness
buddy: :-)
42: so have you already started a character sheet for your kid?
buddy: :-) no, but i probably will now...i have a feeling he's going take rogue levels at the beginning
42: ah yes...too bad you don't get to level him

Everything Else / Linguist wanted
« on: September 20, 2005, 09:58:38 AM »
So I got word from one of my sister-in-laws that the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security is looking desperately for linguists at the moment.

My sister-in-law works for the dept. as a cryptologist and get a large bonus if she refers anyone.

Anyone interested?

Movies and TV / Supernatural and Yahoo
« on: September 13, 2005, 12:01:49 AM »
First, kudos to the producers of Supernatural in realizing that more people are likely to watch new show if they can watch it online.

http://tv.yahoo.com/feature/supernatural.html

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford TiVo.

So I watched the pilot.

It's not bad. I tend to give pilots a lot of slack because their purpose is just to set the feel for the series and the general guidelines. The real flavor of the show is almost never apparent until several episodes into the series.

It does seem like too much of an X-Files knock-off. Yet, I see the potential for it becoming more of an action-series, which would help set it apart from other horror/supsense/thriller/scifi series (something that will be appearing in droves this TV season).

So my advice to the producers, more first shooter Doom stuff and less X-Files stuff.

Will I keep watching. Probably not, unless they keep putting episodes on yahoo.

Movies and TV / Spidey 3 Villians *spoiler*

http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?id=32321

Well, um...hmm.

That's not the villians I would have picked, and it is different than the rumors.

Okay, Franco's character was expected.

Not sure about Grace, he could do a great job or just be really dumb.

Church should do a great job.

Movies and TV / The Brothers Grimm
« on: August 30, 2005, 07:12:45 PM »
Has anyone seen this?

I saw it this morning. It's not nearly as bad as the critics make it out to be. It actually has great visuals and descent plot. It does lack a thesis statement, but as a action/horror flick it works well.

Site News / TWG Utah shindigs
« on: August 26, 2005, 04:45:30 PM »
So Labor Day is coming upon us rapidly.

Yes, some of the TWG Utahers are going to be a Cascadia Con, but what about the rest of us?

I've been talking to Fell, Sprig, and EP about doing something on Labor Day. Nothing is official right now, but I figured I should ask who is interested and what they would like to do?

Last I heard, there was talk of a robot rumble. Also, I thinking we could try out one or two of our mini-adventures.

Actually, I'm just glad I don't live in Provo anymore.
But now there will actually be parking at my Grandma's house, so I have one less reason not to visit her.

Yes, the other thread was getting kind of long.

So, I'm happy because I just made the most heavenly cheese souffle. In fact, it is so good that my soul is being wrenched apart as I make this post instead of eating the light, fluffy, and savory souffle.

Here is the recipe I tried to follow and then heavily adapted:

I guess this has been out for a while, but it's still funny.

I love the reference to "A Christmas Story."

Unfortunately, I have little hope the movie will be as funny.
