Brandon Sanderson / Re: The Way of Kings : pre-release
« on: April 25, 2009, 01:35:50 AM »
At the signing last night Brandon said that if he can get The Way of Kings to his liking before he has to settle down for more WoT, then it's a go. I hope that based on his twitter it is to his liking. I can't wait for new 'Brandon Sanderson'.

P.S. I know Warbreaker is new, and I can't wait for it, but I am excited that Brandon will probably still be able to continue to do his own new works as well, while he finishes up WoT.

Miyabi, When I saw your title and before I looked at the body of the thread I immediately thought of Tubthumping. It is a great song!

Shaggy, Don't Fear the Reaper is a great song! A classic! As for what I am listening to now, The Killers' Day and Age is on my iPod. It's not their best, but it is still very good, imo. If you want to hear a couple songs from the album try Spaceman and I Can't Stay.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: RE Entertainment signs deal with EA

I was about to say something like this. Looks like you already beat me to it  ;) Lets only hope that it(they) aren't crap, like most of EA's games are. That really depends on how much freedom they give Red Eagle, though. Anybody heard of them before?

As bad as most of EA's games are, I love Battle for Middle Earth 2. BfME2 is probably my second favorite RTS, behind Rise of Nations.

I had four phases where I played regularly, most lasting about four months.

1. High school. I was a Junior when Unlimited came out. My friend's brother in law owned a gaming store. We didn't get a discount or anything, but we were able to get the cards right when they were released. I wish wish wish I had kept those cards. At one point I had the Mox Pearl, Mox Ruby, and a Mox Emerald. One moment please, I need to go kick myself again.

2. My second year of college I moved into a house where two of the roommates played. This was during the Urza Saga. We stayed up past two every night that summer, then they moved. Again, I wish I had kept track of those cards. Pemmin's Aura is still one of my favorite cards of all time.

3. The summer before my last year of college(Not to be confused with my fourth year. :)) My brother moved into the house I was living in and got me playing again. I was working in the dorms and had a lot of free time.

4. The four months before I married my wife. She was in Washington, D.C. doing an internship with the Federal Judicial Center and I was stuck in Provo, Utah without my fiance. Two of my roommates had played in the past and I convinced them to play with me to make the pass.

In short, it seems that when I play, I really play, but those periods are few and far between.

My choice, if I could afford the auction, would be one of the Malkieri Nynaeve are collecting. I love the story of the Malkieri and they have  strong reason to fight against the armies of the Dark One.

I never get to play. My wife doesn't play and my playing friends are spread to the four winds. How does everyone get their fix?
