Brandon Sanderson / Re: Ham vs. Lan Showdown
« on: March 29, 2009, 02:48:13 AM »
I don't think having the cloak is going to do anything in the fight. I think that Lan could beat Ham if they both had swords, but if Ham had a staff he would win.
A lot of people describe Scalzi’s Old Man's War novels as military science fiction, but I would classify its sequel Zoë’s Tale as a space opera. It’s a story about, well, Zoë, a teenage girl whose parents are invited to take leadership roles in building a colony on a new planet. Zoë is an enthusiastic member of the group sent to colonize Roanoke, despite the risks—and the risks are considerable even before the political machinations of greater powers boil to the surface. Back on the Shards, though. Is it possible that some of the Shards themselves split into lesser Shards or "Slivers"?
Anyway, I liked that word, "Slivers". Don't you remember having seen it written somewhere? Oh, yeah, about hundreds of times in Mistborn: Final Empire.
So, that's kind of a thought.
I don't feel any particular need to get bent out of shape over things until there's something official. And probably not then either.
Alatar - I don't think that Adonalsium is "creation". I think that creation may be a part of Adonalsium, but not it's main purpose. You know how scientists are always asking the question about what holds everything together and keeps everything moving? I think that's what Adonalsium is meant to represent. Although there are times when it's power is condensed for one reason or another and thus we get shards.[/color]
Myrddraal are the spawn of Trollocs and the taint of evil is even stronger in them. They are man-sized and are pasty white. They have no eyes, yet they see like eagles. They have powers that stem from the Dark One. They are no match for an Aes Sedai, but they can best most warriors. The look of a Fade inspires fear in men. In the Trolloc Wars, Dreadlords commanded Fades that led Trollocs into battle.
All Myrddraal are male. They are not sterile but they cannot reproduce with either humans or Trollocs.
PS: just noticed, why do we always tend to think of the DO as male? And... does that mean the Creator is female?
Not strictly, of course, just about ying/yang dynamics.
I guess we'll see the DO as a Black Horse being mounted by Moridin against Rand mounting Bela.
That should be something to see
