Everything Else / Re: Best Quote Lately Reincarnated

Also known as Hamato Yoshi. In the cartoon at least he was also know as Hamato Yoshi but in the movie Splinter was Hamato Yoshi's pet rat. Enemy of Oroku Saki aslo know as Shredder. Was transformed by the same mutagen that transformed the turtles. Oh this brings back many a great memory. Backster Stockman, The Foot Clan, The Tetra Dome, The Neutrinos, Demension X, pizza, sewers, sweet human masks and so much more. That show was amazing.

I love the Belgariad and Mallorean series as well as Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress. Great reads. I don't seem to like them any less each time I read them.

I just finished Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin. Great book and I look forward to the next one. My only issue is I was doing a little research and I found that there are three books left to come out in the series and the latest book that he released in 2005 took five years. I mean the man is already 61 and at that rate I'm worried if he will ever finish the books. That's not even getting into the fact that its hard waiting five years for a book. It almost makes me want to stop reading these books and come back to them in a couple of years. Anyway I know that I will break down and read all the ones available so I don't know why I try to delude myself.

I was never forced to read any Fitzgerald in high school. I could probably base that on having gone to a vocational school but whatever.

I have yet to read Dune or Enders Game as well. I don't know much about them but I have read almost all of The Dark Elf. I would have to agree and say stay away. Especially if you are having a hard time with Brooks and Shannara. Don't get me wrong, I have read all of the Shannara books up till the newest one that is still in hardcover and I enjoyed them enough. I find both Drizzt and Shannara to be kind of "Old Fantasy". They are both series that drag on way too long and tell similar stories over and over again.

Oh and on a side note. If you do decide to pick up The Dark Elf trilogy try and pick up the Ice Wind Dale trilogy first. Salvatore wrote Icewind Dale first and the characters became popular so he went back and wrote Dark Elf. So chronologically for the characters Dark Elf is first but I would say Ice Wind Dale is the better starting point.

I apologize for any offense taken. I didn't mean you lacked intelligence "I thought you were the somewhat intellectual type but hey, we can all be that way when we don't think something is worth our time.". That's the quote. I was only saying that your responses were un-intelligent. I also pointed out that I understood why because you didn't think the subject wasn't worth your time. I get that you don't like the "fantasy" books that we were talking about and that you don't like the author. I'm sorry if you took my statement as an insult because it wasn't really meant that way. I respond very similarly to subjects that I don't like.

Everything Else / Re: Happy holidays, everyone!

Ok so back to the happy holidays. . . . . St. Patricks Day is coming up there folks!!! I know it might not be that important to everyone but it is a huge one for me. Let us all gather around a pitcher of green beer and listen to bagpipes while we dress in green and skip work on a Tuesday to get drunk while the sun is still up. Yay!!!

Wow, I can understand people not liking the series but I find it hard for a fantasy fan to not at least think Wizards First Rule was decent. I mean of course you are entitled to your opinion but you just surprise me. I am also surprised because I thought you were the somewhat intellectual type but hey, we can all be that way when we don't think something is worth our time. I can say that there were some of my favorite characters in that series but don't even bother with the last three books for the most part. If you get that far *SPOILER ALERT*  then just think about what the most cliche ending would be and your probably right.  *SPOILER ALERT*

Just finished Keepers of The Hidden Ways by Joel Rosenberg. Good little trilogy but it ended too quick for my taste. It was a good time killer while working. Looking forward to finishing George R. R. Martins series Song of Ice and Fire. I'm going to pick up book two tomorrow.

CthulhuKefka- I by no means intended to exclude you. I find that I am more like you these days anyway. I'm an intermittent poster. No where near as constant as I once was. I'm sure there are others out there who were part of the coalition and I don't mean to leave them out either. I just have to hang my head and realize that the time of the Woodland Coalition may be near its end. Knowing that I almost wonder what will happen when the previously forseen coming darkness arrives. But I guess we will find out. This mercenary might be wandering around for a while.

I am upset to find out that the latest book in the series is 3 years in the making. It books like that that make you wonder if they will ever be written.

I'm gonna hop on the Goodkind conversation for a second. I agree that he has a lot of holes and his writing is preachy but I also agree that his style and characters are interesting. I find some of the things from his books to be some of my favorite things I've read. I know he has too many cliches and some of the plot lines are just crap and even whole books kind of loose steam at times (ie Pillars of Creation"). I mean if you read Sword of Truth you might agree that coming up with Six so late in the series was a little like trying to fill space. I was upset with that. But in the end you end up with a few really good books. I mean read Wizards First Rule and tell me that wasn't a good book. I agree again by saying that Faith of The Fallen was tied with WFR for his best books but Stone of Tears was also a good book. Over all the series can be hard to like for some. I for one like the over all series but the last three kind of lost me.

I don't see the windows as a problem. I mean in perspective they might be off in size but not if the window to the left was actually smaller. I mean who knows what some architect in that world would design. I do know that I've seen weirder designs in the real world. I agree with you on her pose, a little stiff but otherwise I think you have a really good painting there. I think that if you gave it more time and energy you would have worked out some of the issues that you found but with how much time you have available and the quality of the product you should be happy with the result. I would hang one of your paintings in my home anyday.

Unfortunately Jade I guess the names got progressively less creative. But at least you are still a knight.

For shame there Shag Dog, Mercenary is not a boring title. I've done many a fun thing since I've been a mercenary. I mean the list includes such things as naked skiing with friends,  sometimes involving unwanted contact with pine trees, to helping in forming a militia with friends who work together to help eachother. I even ran the squad of people who were in charge of the militia security for a while. Don't let the title hold you back, I mean a mercenary can do pretty much whatever he wants so enjoy it while you can there guy. You might even reach the level where you scare all of the other posters away with an overly descriptive post about how you do your job as a mercenary, but that's all part of the fun.  ;D

Hey maybe the impending doom and gathering darkness that the Woodland Coalition stood up to fight was really me the whole time. . . . . . That would have a little more relevance if there were any members of the coalition left except wilson.

Currently I'm reading "The Keepers of the Hidden Ways" trilogy by Joel Rosenberg. I'm on book three "Crimson Sky" and I have to say that they are quite different than what I'm used to. Now don't get me wrong they are fairly good. They twist our current time with another world that is more middleages with Norse gods who roam around. Strange in a nice kind of way.

Also Just finished reading "A Game of Thrones" by George R. R. Martin. Fantastic book! I honestly could barely put the book down. One of those books that you just devour. I'm looking forward to picking up the rest of them soon so I can finish his "Song of Ice and Fire" series.

Wow well i didn't know we were going to be like this. First I was lame and now I'm creepy. Well I guess I've lost touch with this forum. Its a shame really. I mean mercenaries have to be able to get the job done and that's one of the ways to do it. I'm surprised that shaggy would have a problem seeing how his is a mercenary. But I guess I understand that hes a "newbie" and doesn't know all the tricks yet. I want to make it clear, I do not plan on killing Hilary.

Thanks for the definition shag. Its good to know that you plan on shooting something from a concealed position at a target. I would assume that would be some sort of arrow or bolt if you don't plan on using a bullet. Unless your thinking of a slingshot. I'm sorry that I had to elaborate but at least now I've passed from lame to creepy.

Wow I know I've been gone for a while but have I become lame??? I think your right. I took the easy way out on that one and I'm disappointed in my self. I mean sure she is the wife of an ex-president, she was a presidential hopeful and shes a leader in the democratic comunity but I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to get to her. With all that aside, you are still correct. Bullet?? Really, I said that? Wow. Let me clear that up real quick.

I'm going to stat this off by saying that my price will still be what I quoted minus the cost of the "bullet". In all reality I have acquired many wide ranging skills involving my chosen field. After having spent some time in prison and then going from brawler to sword for hire to mercenary ext. I feel I know a thing or two, not only that but you get to know other people and or groups who are also in your field. I will take this chance to mention shaggy, an aspiring man in our field who finds the need to call me out for my "bullet" when he clearly puts a price on sniping missions in his price quote. But I digress.

So using my knowledge of my field I would most likely contract out the job of taking care of Hilary's security. I mean I am only one man and although I have faith in my evasion tactics it wouldn't do to sneak around just to be caught when Hilary starts to scream in pain. So I would go with the most logical of choices. I would hire a clan of rouge ninjas to efficiently take care of Hilary's on site security. I figure Bill probably isn't with her because, well who would be given the choice. Once her security has been neutralized I will move in. Now you may think that sneaking into someones room and waking them with the point or edge of a rather vicious looking weapon is satisfying but that's not my style. I prefer using the doorbell. This gives Hilary the chance to wonder why no one answering the door. Then it gives her the chance to get out of bed and get dressed (that always stinks when you were sleeping). Here's the best part and you must remember to cut the phone and internet lines before you proceed. Hilary will then have the chance to walk to the door witnessing the aftermath of ninjas intent on killing. Bodies with slit throats and broken necks just strewn about. All this while I relish her screams every time she stumbles accross another body while I wait at the door. Now I know she probably isn't coming to the door at this point so I take the liberty of entering. I perform a slow scan and eventually find little Hilary huddled in a corner tightly holding a kitchen knife. She has this far off look of horror on her face as I slowly pull out my sword. Its nothing special, no decoration but its very sharp and very efficient. At this point she must be realizing that her knife will do her no good as I take the last couple of steps to close the distance. . . . . .

Well that's a job i would take for considerably less than any of shaggys listed prices. Oooh that's a dream job if I ever heard one. If you miss what I'm talking about I will spell it out for you. As a practitioner of certain skills (ie: I'm a mercenary) I would love to have to put my skills to the test on the person miyabi loves (ie: Hilary). If anyone would like to take me out on that contract I will only charge for food and the cost of the bullet. ;D

You are embattled because you are now in between two coalitions my friend. The choice is yours but trust me when I say that as a mercenary my blades are sharp and my skills are sharper. I hope you make the right choice.

We seem to get into these discusions. First it was the army of veggie zombies who were to attack and now people made of other dead people. I say bring on your best, for we of the Woodland Coalition have no fear. All we have is faith in one another and our abilities. Do not try to recruit from our ranks for all true members will stand strong with eachother.
